Hey guys, need some help. Alittle background first.

I have an LMT MRP with a 10.5 barrel. I recently moved a set of KAC BUIS's to another project. I want to install either original HK 416 sights or the Centurions to be used with an EoTech (Not sure of which one yet).

Question is which one is better suited for this application. I heard somewhere that the HK's had a lower sight plane because of the upper piston height of the 416. I don't want to purchase the parts and then have useless BUIS's...

Any advice would be appreciated as to which sights as well as the appropriate EoTech. I am leaning towards the SOCOM model, but open to suggestions.

Thanks,

Wally

Get the Centurions, you will not be able to co-witness your sights with the HKs. They are made for the higher rails of the HK 416.

The HK sights are indeed lower plane. You want the centurions. I have the set for sale in the member sales forum.https://www.m4carbine.net/showthread.php?t=15542:D

The HK sights are fine if you use them exclusively. They are 3/8" shorter than standard sight due to the 416 receiver being taller to accomodate the piston.

They will not co-witness with optics but are great as stand-alone optics...

Go with the Centurion sights if you are using optics.

Interestingly enough, I just noticed that the MR223 has now been added to the Frankonia Jagd (Germany's version of Cabella's) web site:

Don't know if the original HK sights are difficult to locate at home, but they can obviously be purchased here -- though the exchange rate makes them anything but a bargain.

My vote is for the stock LMT sights. I really REALLY wish I'd just left well enough alone when I had it like this. It just felt right.

Here's some more pictures to help you pick something you want, though they're not what you asked for...

Here is an old picture of my LWRC SBR, with the Centurion sights, and an EoTech 553.

This is the way it is now, with a set of LMT's, and Aimpoint Micro. I really love this T-1, and I think I'll be replacing the EoTech on my other gun with one.

I'm going back to the Centurions though, for a couple of reasons. The LMT sights are more than is required for the short barrel, and the mounting knob on the front sight blocks the Surefire light from going forward as much as I'd like.

There are a couple of things I don't like about the Centurions. The 100 M setting is an open V notch, and I prefer an aperture. And the screw that secures the drum was really shiny, the glare off of it was blinding in the sun.

I darkened the screw up, so that's fine now. For the aperture, I found an HK416 rear for the 10.5" guns, and I'm going to try and swap out the drums. It looks like it should fit. Hopefully I'll know this week.

these co-witness perfectly with the Eotech (without a riser or any additional bits).
