i see this gun on ar15.com sbr pics. i googled hk guns but can't really match pictures to what this guy has. i wanted to build one like it but i can not find the base gun he bought. i can not find the name of it. can you help?

The guy who posted the picture is HK94dude. So when someone on arfcom says "That's slick HK. What length of barrel is that?", they are referring to the poster, not the rifle.

Right Click -> Search Google for this image. It's too easy.
