So, here's my problem. I've got not one, but two milled slides and am running a RMR, and BOTH of the damn things are "winking out" on me while I'm shooting them. The red dot is on and then, particularly after a rapid series of double taps, just goes out on me. I can get it to come back on by pressing the + button. I'm pretty pissed since I've got $800-900 bucks tied up in these things. And no, it is not operator error. I've shot them both from a bench rest and I am not losing the red dot, it is just going off.

Is this common?
Your experiences?

Contact Trijicon.

I've got at least 5k round through mine on a G19 and no issues.

Who did the milling? sounds like the battery coming loose from the unit. Make sure there's no play when installed and screwed on. Maybe try a small shim and see if that tightens up fit of the unit.

Thanks bro, for your response.

Can you clarify what you mean by "small shim"

Suarez did the G34, L&M did the G19. The G19 was acting up today, frankly, for the first time. My son and I were both shooting it and we each experienced it going down. We took the handgun over to the range where we are able to bench rest it and ... same thing.

I sent mine back to Trijicon and they replaced the guts, I have since traded it for a trit/fo model.
I think the problem was that the battery was shorting out against the slide and used electrical tape in between.

Interesting...I was thinking about this driving back from the range and thinking that maybe the damn thing was somehow shorting out...thinking of putting some electrical tape between the slide and the slide....

Sounds like bad optics. Trijicon had quite a few bad ones around the 65.000 serial range.

Thank you, will investigate. Sorry, but I've had a bit of whiskey after returning from range, and I'm pissed off!

Better than having it at the range! Good luck

Contact Trijicon. They will make this right on all counts. As mentioned by other posters-some RMR models in certain serial number ranges had issues with shutting off under recoil when mounted to a handgun.
