Looking for a new barrel... (Complete M4 Govt. profile barrel only, no complete upper assemblies)
Considering 2 at the moment:
1. Bushmaster 1/9 (My current barrel)
2. CMMG 1/7 (Looks interesting but need more info on performance and quality)
Any other recommendations or am I good to go with the CMMG?:D

3. Sabre Defence (1/7, CMV steel, Chrome Lined)
4. ArmaLite LEC (I dont think they sell just the barrel :( )
5. Colt (from SAW but It would be pricey)

btw, I've read nothing but good things about CMMG

While there are a great many barrels I would prefer over the CMMG, at $250 I can't think of any.

A Sabre (http://www.pkfirearms.com/store/get_items.aspx?type=1&term=11) will run you $329.

I saw some Milspec Colt M4 barrels in Shotgun News. I think it was an edition from early June for 300.00

Rock River has a R4 barrel: M4 profile, CL, 1/7" twist. ADCO sells them for less than the $250.

First, I would say pass on the M4 profile. I would look at the Noveske N4 barrel.

+1 to that, but you can't buy those barrels alone correct?

Correct, but you can send your upper and rail to us for installation (do it all the time for customers).

Agreed. The Noveske N4 barrel is probably the best aftermarket barrel available right now.

What makes the N4 better than the other barrels Noveske offers?

Depends on the application. The N4 barrels are cold hammer forged with a double chrome lining for long life; perfect for a fighting carbine. The rest of his barrel line is made up of stainless steel barrels more suited for precision shooting.

If you aren't going SBR and want the "look" consider CMMGs 14.7 inch barrel with permanently attached A2 hider, also available in the HB profile.

Thanks everyone! Yes, IM after the look, hence, the specific mention of the M4 govt. profile--although at the moment Im also considering the Socom barrel as well. But again, thanks for all the info on the other barrel options.
Im a bit partial to the 14.5 with the pinned Phantom 5C1 over the 14.7.
