View Full Version : Viking Tactics Handguards
I am going to use the Viking Tactics handguard for my next build and would like to see some pictures of what yall have if you use it.
I would also like to see a picture of the bottom of the handguard. I have the rifle length version but i want to use the midlength for the build and dont know what kind of mounting options i have on there.
The plan is to keep the build pretty focused as far as whats on the handguard. The plan was to use 3 2" rails but i may cut that down to two. One is for a Troy front flip up sight, one for a small light and the last for a short vertical grip. I may hold off on the light but im not sure yet. The barrel i was going to use is a 12.5 Noveske but i havent ordered it just yet.
Let me know what yall think and please if you have some pictures post them. Pictures of the Viking Tactics forends are hard to come by. Especially the carbine and midlength versions.
Solid enough for John Noveske to use them.

Sorry I don't have any pics, but I love the two V-Tac forends I have. One word of advice, make sure you get the proper rail for mounting the front sight. The correct rail is not as tall as the accessory rail.

How did you get my rifle, especially since it only lives in a spreadsheet right now?

On the rail, yea i saw that there were 2 rails for the 2" length so i have that part covered. Thanks for the heads up though. That would have been embarasing.
It seems like a good handguard so i dont see why more people dont use them. Surely everyone doesnt need 4 full rails but with want factored in that may make a difference.;)
I've been looking at these for a while but have been hesitant because, although they are well accepted by the 3-gun crowd, you never see them on more hard-use guns.
I'll admit I'm something of a newb. Are they tough enough for hard-use? (read, Would you take one to the sand-box?)
Are there any good sources of uppers with these tubes out there?

I like them on 'game-guns', their pretty cheap compared to rails.

Have any of you seen or used the midlength variety of this handguard? It seems that one is hard to track down information on. Once i get the handguard and upper built ill post some info and pictures. I wish they would come up with something in between the mid and the rifle length though.
Those are some nice looking rifles yall have. Thanks for the pictures and info so far.

Are these tubes aluminum? Do they get really hot if shooting many rounds and fast?

I've used mine quite a bit and have never noticed it getting hot. I imagine if you grab it where it attaches to the receiver, that could get hot, but the tube does not get any hotter than my LaRue.

Put 30-45 rounds though it in 90 seconds and report back. Mine gets hot as hell in 3gun practice and at matches so I were a glove on my support hand.

I would imagine most any metal handguard would heat up when firing that fast. Most of my rifle shooting involves wearing nomex gloves and I haven't noticed anything excessive from this handguard. That includes several classes using it.
Stickman,
What is the barrel length on this one?
Thanks!

Exactly. Anything that is metal and connected to the chamber is going to get hot!
The difference between these and say a LT or DD is that you can put covers on those rails.
