NEW Tipped MatchKing (TMK) Bullets from Sierra
Sierra has announced a new line of plastic-tipped MatchKing bullets. “Say What!? — that can’t be right…” you may be thinking. MatchKings have always been jacketed, hollowpoint bullets. Until now, plastic tips have been reserved for other Sierra projectiles, such as BlitzKing varmint bullets. But that is changing with the introduction of Sierra’s line of Tipped MatchKing (TMK) bullets featuring green acetal resin tips.

Looks like all those emails finally worked! @markm

All those folks shooting Amax may have gotten their attention too. Very cool development.

I actually doubt I'll run any of these. I never bugged Sierra about selling these as a component. I may end up trying a few for hell of it. But in 77, Nosler 77s are just too cheap to justify shooting the new Sierra bullet. There's just not enough to be gained to justify nearly twice the cost.

And we own so many 175 Sierra Matchkings, that it'll be years before we could change over to the newer bullet.

I thought the purpose and accuracy gained from OTM/BTHP bullets was the shift in weight to the base of the bullet? I understand polymer is light, but it's not lighter than a void filled with air.

Is there a significant BC gain in filling that tip vs the stability of rearward shift in weight? Help me understand...

By the way Markm, I took your advice from a different thread and invested in some Nosler 77s. I still have my 69gr Noslers, but wanted to give the 77gr a try. Working on ladder loads now and some decent weather to get out for testing. Been too cold, rainy, and windy to get verifiable results in the past month.

Those Noslers hang right with Sierra. I either had a bad day at the range or just didn't get a load the 69s liked... I'm shooting almost all 77 Nosler for everything anymore.

I have 1250 of them to play with through the summer, in addition to 500 69gr, and 650 Prvi 69gr already loaded. Hoping that will last through the summer and I can really narrow down a great mid range load. I'll also be looking to get the range pushed out to 500yds, hoping for 650. You guys out in AZ have it made when it comes to open space for ranges.

Actually it was a bit of a pain to find somewhere reasonably close where we don't have some pea brain complaining that we're shooting over a dirt path.
