Anyone know where to buy them? I don't see them on G&R Tactical's website, I believe these are fairly new though...

They're not new. Cabala's has carried them for years.

Right but that particular gun is a different SKU that was exclusive to Cabela's, probably the same gun but came with 3 mags & range kit. It now appears there is a compact version as well, neither Cabela's exclusives and there is also a cheesy looking carbon patterned framed full size & compact version... I'm pretty sure these are new developments.

I linked the kit, which might be a Cabela's exclusive. I think they had them listed individually also. Also, Cabela's may have their own SKU's on their site which are different than the manufacturer SKUs. Grant has an FDE 45 listed also. There are also the VTAC models where the slide is FDE.
Besides the Cabela's & VTAC models, is there another FDE version you're looking for?

the original FDE M&Ps were the VTAC models if im not mistaken.... and you can still get that model if your willing to pay the price.... i HIGHLY recommend you get the discount if you can, brings it down from 7** something to 5** something....

No I've known about the VTAC, no interest in it or the M&P 45 FDE's which have always been around (or at least as far back as I can remember), unfortunately the 45 models are only FDE with the stupid thumb safety (it would be news If there were 45s without the thumb safety in FDE).

I was looking for the standard full size & compact 9mm in FDE in FDE, they have the same MSRP as the plain Jane Black full size & compact M&Ps so they should be the same price (or damn close) as the regular black M&Ps.

Found the answer to my own question, these FDE's are new along with an M&P 9mm & .45 coming with threaded barrels (ignore the goofy "carbon fiber" M&Ps which are sure to be on clearance within 6 months).

http://www.thefirearmblog.com/blog/2015/01/12/new-smith-wesson-handguns-2015/

Grant (if you are reading), if/when do you expect these FDEs (and threaded barrel) M&Ps to be in stock?

Figures theyd come out with an FDE threaded barrel model after I buy parts to make my own.

Not sure what they were thinking with the carbon fiber ones.

Actually the threaded models are black... But perhaps FDE threaded are coming as well. No idea about that carbon crap, I'm sure it will be discontinued before the year is over with those guns selling for clearance, making them ideal to pickup if you plan to cerakote the gun anyway.

What's the difference between the "new" FDE model & the ones offered by Cabela's? It seems to me that they're the same but only removing the exclusivity.

Pricing is the difference with the full size model, Cabela's has inflated prices and that stupid range kit is useless. There may be some other minor differences. The FDE compact is completely new as well.

I wonder if these new FDE models are just frames or if the slide is FDE as well. Might pick up the FDE compact since Ive been eyeballing a compact anyway.

Frame only, if you look on the S&W website (I provided links) they are FDE frames with black slide, black backstraps & black mag base.

Might just be removing the exclusivity. S&W is coming out with these, as well as a carbon fiber looking frame (which is hideous) as a part of SHOT this year.

Yep, I think they're the same too.

Nothing is retarded as faux, screen printed carbon fiber. S&W dropped the ball on that one. Cheapens their image. What's next, zombie green?

If you look at the Cabela's exclusive vs. The new standard FDE, the new guns have black magazine release, black back straps, black take down tool and black magazine base pad... Nothing that couldn't be changed out, but I kinda prefer the two tone look anyway.

The Cabela's version has black back straps too. Looks like some new subtle changes though. I've always thought the FDE M&P's were sharp looking.

Very little, if any difference. Grant actually used to carry the FDE MP9, long before Cabela's had the exclusive on them. Originally, they shipped with FDE backstraps and black slide. I believe that they also pre-date the VTAC model. I purchased a cabela's model last year and they also had the compact in FDE. This is my third FDE M&P. The first one was purchased from Grant a long time ago.

Good to know, I had no idea they sold FDE 9mm M&Ps years ago outside of Cabela's. They must be reintroducing them, I like the FDE look on the M&P.

Yeah, Grant used to sell them for a brief period of time and then they were gone. I bought the one pictured above last year at cabela's as a range and carry kit. Glad to see them available to the dealer network again.

If someone wants a FDE backstrap for one of the more recent two tone full size M&P 9mm models, give S&W customer service a call. Odds are they'll ship one out to you for free.

It's part # 392520000 for small, # 392530000 for medium, and # 392540000 for large, same as the FDE backstraps for the full size frame M&P .45. They're also available from Brownells and a few other retailers online.

How do the safety plugs secure? Any chance of them coming loose & interfering with the operation of the gun?

Just got it and I put about 100 rounds through it a couple of days ago. Shoots slightly to the right compared to the factory barrel. Groups seem to be similar, but I've not shot it past 15 yet. I got it because it was the only LH threaded metric barrel I could find and I've got a Tirant 9 that should be approved in a few days. It's made by storm Lake for AAC.

The way they fit into the frame won't allow them to fall out or into the gun. Most non-safety M&Ps have shipped with plugs installed for a few years now.

I just came back from a local gun store, and they had a M&P9c with the carbon finished frame in stock.

Pictures do not do this gun justice. It is much uglier in person. I kept being reminded of those posters that if you stair at long enough, the hidden picture is seen in 3D. Whomever the marketing genius at S&W who thought the carbon finished guns would be a seller should be fired.

I would have liked to see the FDE gun though, that has my attention.

Faux carbon fiber printing is one of the dumbest things I've ever seen. You can instantly turn anything into a turd by simply screen printing that pattern onto it.

Its funny you thought that about them. I thought the exact same thing when I saw them at SHOT. Id really love to know what the folks at SW were thinking. It looks absolutely terrible. The hydro dip looks absolutely terrible. I will be buying an FDE compact as they are available at the distributor for sure but the carbon fiber, yuck. If they close them out for dirt cheap in a couple months when they don't sell Ill buy one and refinish it.

I don't know who these lunatics are that think faux carbon fiber actually looks like anything other than faux carbon fiber.

Not sure what's worse, the hydro dip or that there's probably some guys out there that are excited about it. I usually try not to be too judgmental about people otherwise minding their own business, but damn.
