Just wondering what your experiences were shooting 77gr through a 1x8 twist barrel?

I realize that each barrel is different, but looking for a general idea.

I have a 18" 1x8 MRP barrel that I want to cut down to 16", but if it won't shoot 77gr well, I will just sell it and buy a 16" 1x7 barrel.

Thanks for any thoughts on the matter!

75-77gr in a 1x8 shoots fine out of every barrel I've shot in 1x8 (16", 18" and 20")

1x8 is the ideal twist for the heavy match bullets. That's why most CMP service rifle shooters run a 1X8 barrel. You really only need 1x7 twist for tracers and AP. Any other bullet that's short enough to feed from the magazine will work just fine in 1x8 barrels.

I have an 18" 1/8 barrel, and it shoots Black Hills 77gr better than any other ammo I have put through it. It likes the heavy bullets.

As noted, 1/8 is fine for 75/77 gr.
