Does anyone have a recommendation on a quality manual can opener? I Can't find one that will last more than a month...

We've had this one for 3 or 4 years. Works great.

I know you said manual, but if you're using it at home, try a Hamilton Beach electric can opener.

I bought one at Walmart 6 years ago and at this point it's opened hundreds if not thousands of cans - it's still going strong.

When I first suggested an electric my wife scoffed at the idea and said she wasn't that lazy. Then when I brought the electric home, she used it and quickly agreed it was the ONLY way to open cans.

Cost?

Can't recall exactly, but I think was in the low $20's.

After a fairly extensive search, I ended up with this one.
EZ Duz It http://www.amazon.com/EZ-DUZ-IT-Deluxe-Opener-Black-Grips/dp/B0071OUJDQ/ref=sr_1_1?s=home-garden&ie=UTF8&qid=1421606955&sr=1-1&keywords=can+opener
Had it about a year and have been pleased so far.

Don't know about "best" but I've been using the OXO Good Grips Smooth Edge Can Opener (http://www.oxo.com/p-405-smooth-edge-can-opener.aspx). The one I have is the first gen(?) version I believe and not the current production one.

Ah hah! I saw your post but thought that it was a company called Swing-A-Way.

The manufacture's name for the one I posted/buy/own is actually "Made in the U.S.A.". The rest on the market are CHICOM junk.

My wife brought one of those home and I HATED IT... until she showed me how it worked. We're also 3 years into ours without an issue. Leaves a super safe edge also as it doesn't cut the lid off, it remove the whole end of the can.

We have used our SwingAway for over twenty years without a hiccup. After researching for a back-up, found out they're no longer made in the US but made in China. Reviews on them are hit or miss. As mentioned, "EZ DUZ IT" and "Made In The USA Can Opener" are still made here and for the most part are holding up as advertised.

My parents didn't have success with this model. But it's probably changed in the past 10 years.
