Mod note: We have had two different moderators clean up this thread and remove posts. When you insert the same off-topic comment and it gets deleted twice, that's what police often refer to as a "clue".

So knock that off.

Working out with head phones on?

We have had a few cases locally of people walking on the tracks with headphones on getting hit.

One article said there also was a video camera recovered.

Going out on a limb and saying this a contender for the 2015 Darwin Awards...

Strike 1 : Standing on Railroad Tracks (Not Smart)
Strike 2 : With Headphones on (Now I can't hear it coming...)
Strike 3 : While Filming a workout video ... YOURSELF... (Or see it..)

You can't make this sh!t up

I freak out when my kid skateboards with his ear buds in.

Sad news to hear someone went before their time.

That said, lets use as a lesson of the potentially fatal implications of reduced situational awareness due to ear phone or the like.

I believe Mr. Plitt was a West Point graduate, and also served in the U.S. Army Rangers during his military career. He was a pretty positive dude from all the vids I've seen of him, sucks that he died in such a way.

Production meeting went like this.

"Hey, where's a cool site location for our next kick-ass video?"

"Hmmm.... how about near a railroad crossing with a train screaming by?"

"Dude, that totally rocks!"

"Yeah that is so awesome, let's run with that."

"Shouldn't we check with the city for a permit or at least the railroad if we need permission or something. You know from a safety point of view?"

"Dude, you are such a downer. We don't need no stinking permits."

"Yeah, what's with the negative waves Moriarty?"

On site location.

"Hey Greg can you hear us?"

"Say what?"

"Take off those damn earbuds for Pete's sake!"

"What did you say?"

BAMMMM!!!

End of story. Remember what Momma said, "Look both ways before crossing".

Yeah, that's all true, and he was a very decent guy from all accounts. It's great that he was able to have a 2nd career after he left the military.

We know very little about the way he died. I'm certainly not going to let the way he died define who he was and what he did while he was alive.

I guarantee there is more to this incident than what we are reading and hearing about in the news.
