I got my NRA Board of Directors ballot this week. I've just started researching the candidates, but so far I'm leaning towards voting for Scott Bach, Joe DeBergalis, Tim Knight, and Sean Maloney. Does anybody have any other candidates to vote for or to avoid?

I did notice that Brandon Webb was not on the ballot (https://www.m4carbine.net/showthread.php?143831-Brandon-Webb-Running-for-NRA-BoD&highlight=) and when I Googled "Brandon Webb NRA 2015" the most recent thing that came up was from early last year. Has he given up his campaign or what?

Good info on not wasting your voting power in these linked quotes:

Due to the way NRA elections work, the only real competition in the election is for the last few positions, and the vote totals for those marginal candidates are often within just a few votes of each other. That means that just a few extra votes for a candidate can make a big difference, and voting for more than just a few candidates – especially voting for several who are expected to be in the bottom dozen vote-getters – can dilute an individual ballot and cost their favorite a seat. To give each of your votes as much impact as possible, you should only vote for a person you know for certain you want on the Board. This is know as 'bullet voting'. (http://www.buckeyefirearms.org/bullet-voting-increase-your-nra-board-directors-ballot-power)

I noticed that as well. If he was nominated, as suspected, he didn't make the cut. If he had made the cut he wouldn't have received my vote.

I filled out my ballot last night, Steve Hornady and the guy fighting for NFA stuff received my vote. I've always liked Steve Hornady for some reason, don't ask me why........

Any other names need a vote? Why?

Thanks for the "bullet ballot" info... Makes sense... Don't dilute your ballot.

Do you mean John K. Brown? I read some rumors online about him possibly being an BATFE informant and also being behind the new rulings regarding NFA trusts last year. Do you know anything solid about that stuff?

Nope, never heard any of that stuff, will have to do some poking around.

Doesn't look like it to me......that was Holder changing the game.

The more I read the more confused I get on this guy. There certainly appears to be those who don't want him on the board. Guess it was a wasted vote, but I don't know enough first hand to make a judgement....Where there is smoke there is usually fire, but I also don't believe everything I read on the internet.

I thought having someone NFA literate on the board would be good. I might have been wrong.

Agreed! :fie:

Agreed. I wish we had more to go on than Arfcom internet threads.

Don't feel bad. I get the feeling a lot of times that the BoD elections are kind of a "Good Ol' Boys Club". It's hard to find any solid info on a lot of these guys that aren't celebrities, and the celebrities aren't the ones who need our votes.

Placing my ballot in the mail now. I voted for Bob Viden, Sean Maloney, Joe DeBergalis, Tim Knight, and Scott Bach. Remember, the NRA must receive your ballot by Sunday, March 22 or it will not be counted.

LOL.

Seriously, we need guys like Larry Vickers on the list. The lame duck era of the worst President in memory is probably going to see some huge anti gun efforts.

Sorry, but it seems to me that the NRA is a one-way outfit: once they get you as a member, they fill your mailbox with junk mail. If you need something from them--forget it. If they want to do something, they do it, arbitrarily.

Been an NRA member since a kid, and Life for at least 30 years now. I get it that they're the 500 pound gorilla on gun issues, and I'm grateful for it, but otherwise they're just another bunch of empire builders.

I get little to no junk mail. There are very easy ways to opt out of that program. Are they perfect? Nope, but they are far better than the alternative......

Contact the NRA and ask to be put on their "do not solicit" list and no more junk mail.
