One of the few items at Shot this year that stood out to me besides Sig's wankering of everything, is a product from Cobalt Kinetics.

When I first walked by the booth I saw some nicely machined rifles and some booth babes, but as I looked closer I saw they had double forward assists. (the rifles you pervs!) My first thought is Why the hell would anyone need that?

Well after talking to the guy he explained how its not a forward assist at all, its a bolt release. As weird as it seems it actually worked pretty well and was easy to hit from either side as the rifle is designed to be completely ambi. Its an interesting concept and they may be onto something. I thought it would interfere with charging the rifle but it wasn't bad, I think a AXTS/Rainier Raptor would be better than the CH they chose. I'm sure many may think it's a gimmick which it very well could be, but its nice to see guys thinking outside the box a bit.

TFB has a decent write up on it as well.

I think everyone has ran out of ideas with the platform, so they come up with stuff like this. I do like their lower though.

Man, I forgot the FA even existed. 2 of them? I need that like I need my auricular tubercles.

My first impression was it is another solution looking for a problem that's not there...but it is nice to see innovation.

I could be wrong...but this does not look like anything I'd be interested in.

Interesting but you're right, the market is running out of new ideas.

I like the rifles lower and her upper.

I'll bet they are wives/girlfriends. Not dogs but not the original Glock girls! The ones that were 7 foot tall brick houses.

Looks like it should be C-3PO's rifle.

so just curious, wouldn't this make it hard for a person using the side of their palm to rack the handle so you don't have to pull your head off of the stock. Just looking it looks like it takes a lot of real estate away from getting under the charging handle.

I can't take the company seriously. The colors and machining look straight out of the paintball gun world. Any innovation is lost to me in the noise of the machining and finishing.

It grabs attention but doesn't have the meat to hold it.

It looks to me like the worst solution I've seen to address this issue.

Nice, lets discuss the women's fashion accessories instead of the rifles. Classy guys.

Trying to figure out if they plan on selling rifles that ugly, or if it's just a demonstration of which parts they make vs. other manufactures made.

I don't think you'd be able to palm rack it. They are about $3k which is a bit high IMO.

I think they overdid the yellow, but it would he cool to have that on a training rifle. Bright bits so new shooters could find the controls

I think that would definitely be useful tool for teaching the AR platform. Something tells me that's not the reason they did it.

They had normal painted rifles there as well, but for demonstration and attention getting they had some weird color schemes.

you ever lose respect for a company based on the items they sell?
that happened to me today when Rainier sent out their newsletter and i saw this gem.

What's better than one forward assist? TWO forward assists! :suicide:
