Another option for a sub gun. I've always been a fan of the LWD AR lower. LWD lower + 9MM upper + bolt easily hits $1.5k. If this comes below $1000 on the street I'd say it's close to being a winner. Evo is cheaper but being able to use Glock mags steals it for me.

Looks interesting.

I have been reluctant to pull the trigger on a Lone Wolf/ glock pistol due to price.

Looks good on paper. Would be nice if it is reliable and had a good Street price. Know 0 about the company.

I mixed LWD lower with a JSE a upper and ended up well under $1000 to get the Glock compatibility.
The Angstadt is attractive, especially if they addressed the issues from the last time these lowers were produced, such as BHO shear.

I would love to see pics of your set up.

These do look really really interesting - especially if they prove out to be rugged and reliable. I'd definitely consider... From the twitter feed link in OP...

Angstadt Arms is local to Charlotte and owned by a solid dude. Trying to get my hands on a pistol right now.

I've handled one... it's nicely built, I personally don't care for the Glock mags but the system looks good.

I would personally opt for a HK mp5/mp5k-n clone (either one built buy a good HK smith from a lsc flat or a MKE) or the SIG mpx (provided all the bugs are worked out).

He's only looking to drop $1k... Any roller clone will be more.

Now I can't speak for this set up because I haven't taken it apart but other lowers I have seen use a bar that's attached to bolt release via a little "window"... That's your BHO. Some work well and some don't, it's finicky. You need a modded bolt carrier so the bolt will cycle over Glock mags which have a lip on the side that will impede it otherwise. The argument of "I have a Glock 17 so having an 9mm AR that takes those mags seem like a logical choice" is dumb because no one that has a G17 walks around with a 33rd mag and their 9mm AR at the same time... It's a moot point.

I'm a huge fan of the Colt SMG type 9mm AR. The magazines are about the same price as the Glock mags, no special bolt requirements, and the bolt will hold open on the last round. I'm only speaking for the AR 9mm platform. SMGs historically have straight or curved mags and with the exception of the Kriss which is a whole different animal and don't have an angled magazine feeding the system... There's probably a good reason for that. With that said, the Angstadt looks good, felt good in my hands, and looks like a quality product. I don't like the Glock mags for the reasons stated above and it seems very "Tacticool".

Thanks man, I appreciate your insight. New to the whole 9mm sub gun/AR-based unit - so your perspective is appreciated.

This is what I built. The lower is a DDLES but they went out of business and now QCircle10 makes that lower. Buffers and buffer springs make or break your set up regardless of what style you go with(SMG patterned vs Glock patterned). I'm pretty sure if you get a complete rifle/pistol from Angsadt... It'll run well but that issue may arise later on.

Very nice job. I started doing a little more research and stumbled upon the QC10 lowers (actually started a thread mistakenly under this section - might get moved to AR Pistol Caliber Section). I had seen that DDLES is now QC10 - apparently bought their tooling/etc - and they seem to have a good rep. Did read that some lowers - perhaps just Glock version - might have an issue and need to be tweaked for LRBHO consistency. I did notice the subject of buffers/springs discussed. Did you go heavy at first and work down?

Also, if you would be willing to share, how would you personally compare the cost you have in a built unit to something like the Angstadt at list price of $1300?

I recently purchased a UDP-9 from a local FFL that had bought it for his personal toy. Apparently these things are still really rare.

Here is a pic.

I have about 200 rounds thru it so fare without a single FTF. I am holding about 3.5" at 25 yards off my cheek. Half of the 20 hits were in a 1.25" circle.

I love the gun. It my be my new favorite for paper and self defense. The glass is 1-4x

I have had one for a month or so. I have shot it twice with no issues.
I have the "blade" on a pistol buffer tube
I put in a Spikes tactical 9mm buffer and wolf spring.

They are solid guys to work with
Saw there was a dealer special on the law tactical folding stock adapter, so I have that on order.

Mine currently has a 7.5" barrel, I am rethreading a spare barrel at the moment.

I might have it ported around the barrel nut and integrally suppress....but that's a whole 'nother topic....

I have shot my friends that does the machining; basically it becomes a MP5SD, Glock and AR-15 love child....
Makes any 9mm subsonic
My hesitation is I get 147gr subsonic very cheap; so I don't know that I always want to shoot subsonic

As stated I have a Colt SMG patterned AR9 but wouldn't mind doing that to a dedicated upper.

Get a quarter circle ten and a barrel; use your same bolt.

On what? Barrel on the Angstadt? I got my barrel elsewhere, I didn't figure out what was on there yet... I can't even recall the barrel I bought; I think it was the non-stainless from JSE surplus....

The UDP threads are 1/2x36 so that piece is not an option.

I picked up one of these today on Ebay. Hopefully, I can test it this weekend. Rich at Angstadt really likes them.
