If so, why?

For me I think it is just I would rather all my Glocks have the same grip.

I just do.

I don't like the finger grooves and I prefer skateboard tape over other textures.

I know you can remove the finger grooves.

Downside - no rail.

Only thing left on mine that is original is locking block, frame and slide.

I love gen 2's but, when the chips are down, I prefer gen 3's for the rail. I don't care for the finger grooves but I'd rather deal with them and have a light then be without one. Personal preference.

I have a Gen3 19 with a TLR1 for the house. Gen2 17/19 for everything else. I too never liked the finger bumps.

The grey Glock finish looks cooler too, but that is neither here nor there.

I had a gen 2 19 that was the smoothest glock I have every shot. I have no idea how many rounds had been through it (I was at least owner #4), and I got it for a great deal. As long as I don't have the need for a light on it, the gen 2 guns have been great for me. I think the biggest plus is you can get them for cheaper, at least I have found that to be the case.

I have enough Glocks already, but if I needed more I'd look hard at any decent Gen 2 for it's better parts and tenifer treatment.

While I don't own any Glocks anymore, The Glock people I've talked to over the years seem to have the same complaint...The finger grooves. Nobody really likes them, and I've never understood why Glock couldn't come out with a Gen2 style frame (no finger grooves) with Gen 4 stippling, and a rail.. WTF Glock? It can't be that difficult.

I have a gen2 but like my gen3 much more because of the finger grooves . With the grooves you get a more consistant grip position

I have 3 Gen 2s, 5 Gen 3s, and a Gen 4.

I prefer the Gen2s when I am wearing gloves, as the gloves do not fit the finger grooves of the 3 and 4 at all.

I prefer the Gen4 in every other situation.

I want a gen 2 19 just because. But I prefer the gen 3 RTF2 most.

I prefer the gen.2 as they fit my hands better and i think they are better made guns in general.

Slightly on topic, does anyone know why the Raven Vanguard is listed as a Gen3/Gen4 only? Did the trigger guard change shape from 2 to 3? Does a Gen2 fit in a vg2?

Gen 2s are more slippery and generally less accurate. As seen on these pages they can go rogue and BTF ya too. Long gone and good riddance.

No idea on the VG2, I have one around here I can check with but I never use it. I carry my gen 2 19 with an original vanguard exclusively.

I love the Gen 2 (mine is a 1993 build), but also own Gen 3 and 4 19s. I don't ever conceal a light so the lack of a rail doesn't affect me. My hands fit the finger grooves just fine on the others. My favorite would have to be my Gen 3 simply because I've owned it the longest and its a copy of the gun I use at work.

I hate the finger groves on a 19. They just don't fit my hand at all, so I prefer Gen 2 19's
On full size guns, the finger groves are ok....not great, just ok.
