Entertaining the notion of a fixed stock since my beard is approaching Forest Gump territory.

I played around with the MOE stock, it's just a LITTLE too short. Any other ones out there I should look at?

Get a DPMS 1" stock spacer.

I like the RRA Entry stock with DPMS 1" spacer and A2 buttplate/trapdoor.

Also check out ACE ARFX-E(ntry) stock. I would recommend going with the 1" buttpad instead of the DPMS spacer on this one as the spacer will push the foam covering back to where you're not really resting on it at all anymore.

ETA: They're all (as in entry/short stocks) pretty much ~7.25" before modifications as well. The one exception being the sully stock at 8" with the highest price of the lot and being solid, it is much heavier than the rest of them.

I like the MOE fixed length carbine stock. It's inexpensive, works great on a 6 position A5 RE and use the PRS thick recoil pad. You can increase the length of pull by loosening the cross screw and pulling the stock back as far as the cross screw will allow. You'll notice there will be a gap between the nose of the stock and the end plate. Find a piece of PVC pipe that will just fit over the RE and cut it to fit to keep the stock from shifting under recoil. I've done this with two rifles. One, I cut a slot in the PVC pipe so it will slide over the ridge of the RE. The other, I made the spacer before installing the RE and just slipped into place over the threads.

Here is a photo of the spacer I made for the Big Smith

With the spacer and the thicker pad, LOP is about 13.75 inches

A second vote for the Magpul fixed MOE carbine and spacer. Love mine as it is, it's the same length as a regular M4 plastic fantastic stock on the 3rd position, so I can see where it'd be a bit short... give the spacer thing a shot.

Mistwolf, I'm going to steal your PVC pipe idea and use it on another build with an ACE ARFX-E stock with 1" spacer and 1" buttpad to solve the foam tube being made useless while maintaining continuity.

I'm gonna steal it to fill the gap and keep my B5 from going past the last hole on the A5 RE.

I had this guy for a while

I have to say I am not a fan.

The stock gave me a nose-to-CH type of setup - which I do not like.

for a fixed stop I like and A1 as in M16A1

IMO stocks are like holsters, you have to find what works for you....I've owned most stocks on the market...mostly stick to the Vltor Emod stocks now, butI still have a Magpul CTR, a SOPMOD stock, and an STR as well

A couple of quick & dirty photos of the Magpul Fixed Length Carbine stock I installed on the precision AR

Stock with factory supplied butt pad. When I get a chance, I'll replace it with a thicker one

The whole rifle. Sorry for the mag foul but the photo was a quickie

I used to have an UBR on this rifle and as much as I really like the stock, it's heavy. The entry length RE was replaced with a 6 position A5. The ridge of the 7 position A5 is too long and won't let the Fixed Length Carbine stock slide back as far. If you really want to get fancy, use the 7 position or the Magpul 8 position RE and drill a hole through the ridge for the cross screw

Mist that's a pretty innovative idea you came up with there.
