Well not new, just new to me. We picked up a Beretta 71 .22lr in great condition. Was a service pistol in Israel for mossad. Came with a threaded barrel. Can anyone help me with some info on this? Anywhere I can find a file for the owners manual and I need a thread protector so the threads at the muzzle don't get messed up. Thanks!!

It has about a 5 inch barrel screwed on the end. Not a CAN. They said that's the only way they could import them

3159631597 My grandpa was gonna carry it loaded with CCI stingers, but once he read how much it might be worth I think he might sell.

It doesn't look like the sights are usable with that fake can attached. I'd take it off. Any idea how it's held on?

Yeah it's held on by a set screw. U have to file a section off that covers the screw. If we keep it then it's coming off asap. If we sell it we'll probably leave it

We emailed baretta and they said they have never seen or heard of something like that attached to a barrel. Were gonna take it off but now were scratching our head. Anyone ever heard of that being attached for import into the US?

The GCA '68 is why that fake can is attached. Based on the size of the pistol and what's on it, it has to achieve enough points to be considered importable.

GCA 68?

Gun control Act of 1968... Before this law was enacted one could freely go into a gun shop, hardware store, military surplus store, any place that sold guns and plop your cash down, and walk out with your firearm...no forms to fill out, calls to be made, etc, Guns could also be sold via mail order as well.. Thanks to the Kennedy's we now have this..
