Best .22 Magnum semi-auto?

Are there any reliable .22 Magnum semi-autos on the market?

I am only aware of one semi-auto .22 mag on the market presently. The Kel-Tec PMR-30. They've been hard to find and expensive for what they are. I shot one at a range once, the owner was proud of it. It worked well for the 5-10 rounds I fired.

Lots of PMR-30's over on Gunbroker.com. I think they were running low to mid $400's.

You can still find AMTs around used and they worked good but we're unbearably loud.

Just out of curiosity why?

The .22 Magnum is designed around a rifle length barrel.

In a really short barrel you get a .22 LR with a really, really loud bang and flash when all the powder that was supposed to burn in a 16+" barrel burns outside of the muzzle of your gun.:D

Now maybe you like the boom but I find it obnoxious in a Ruger Single Six and have probably only fired 3 cylinders full the whole time I have owned it.

Yup, the one I shot impressed me with three things; muzzle flash, loud report and super light recoil. I would like to know the muzzle velocity of a .22mag out of the KelTec

Don't forget the ancestor of the PMR-30, the Grendel. I always wanted one as a kid, just because it held 30 rounds. I'm not a Kel-Tec fan by any means, but George Kellgren is a pretty prolific gun designer. I don't think that his designs are inherently bad, it's the manufacturing processes and QC used that give the guns a bad reputation. I would love to see him shut down Kel-Tec and go to work for a serious firearms company that can help him fully realize his visions.
