Yes. It is one more thing to protect the objective lens.

They significantly degrade light transmission to the eye, so no, I don't use them. When I have to go up against targets that shoot back in the wild, then I'll use one.

What Glocktogo says is the truth, and I only run one killflash on an ACOG because it sits atop my M16A4 clone. Even then, it's tempting to remove it due to the "yellowing" effect it produces in certain light conditions.

For hunting I'd say no. I generally want as much light transmission and clarity as possible, most prime time hunting hours are at dusk and dawn.

My M4RCO still has that one, and one did come with my Aimpoint M4S - I haven't found them to be that practical, and when bumped they can obscure the objective lens completely.
