Just ordered a BCM 11.5 upper, what is the best buffer to use?

It's a carbine length government profile with A2 flash hider. At some point it will be supressed but until I can get the funds it will just be run as my gtg. Did a search but didn't really find much. Any thought or help would be appreciated.

H2 and carbine spring run flawless in all of my BCM 11.5's. Never an issue running quality ammo.

Going to chime in with the same. My BCM 11.5 runs perfect with an H2 and carbine spring. Steel case through full powered 5.56 without any problems, both suppressed and unsuppressed. I barely clean it, too, so it is extremely dirty.

Sorry not trying to highjack but I have 2 bcm 11.5 sbr's and mine run perfect with the standard H buffer. Would there be any reason to swap to an H2? This will also be suppressed once my stamp is approved.

heavier buffers slow the speed of the bolt progressively, and the spring rate can be used in sync with the buffer combo to get your rifle to handle the way you want. Over gassed rifles (carbine length gas systems on sbr uppers for example) can sometimes run a little rich because of the shorter barrel, and gas system combined. The way to combat over gassing and having a rifle that's basically having additional wear and tear is to alter the cycling speed of the bolt. Any H buffer and decent carbine spring will take care of this. I was always told to aim for a 2-3 o'clock brass ejection pattern. (look at your rifle as if the muzzle is at 12 o'clock and your brass should be ejecting from the postion of between 2 and 3. Everyone has their own theory but my setup with an H2 and a spikes Carbine spring ejects right at 3 with most loads. I've shot mine suppressed and un suppressed and never had a single issue with feeding, firing, and having fun. H2's and carbine springs are typically a go to combo for 11.5's from what I've read and experienced with building ar's. Now this is not absolute by any stretch, but it should get you close to where you need to be, and if you use the forum search this topic has been well discussed and debated haha.

Agreed. H2 will work great, but and A5H3 will run a little smoother. H is too light in my opinion. It will run fine, but recoil will be a bit snappier.

I guess I should have been more specific, I agree with this post, both suppressed and unsuppressed they all run fine. Also with different suppressors they run fine.

I have an A5 on mine. Ran it with the standard A5 buffer (A5H2) and then A5H3. Shot PMC Bronze and Wolf Gold. Both ran perfectly. The heavier H3 was notably softer feeling with the Wolf.
