View Full Version : Steiner M5Xi vs Leupold Mk6
Anyone here try the Steiner M5Xi 3-15x50mm? Any thoughts when compared to a Leupold Mk6 3-18x44mm?
Looking to pick up a bigger optic on my SCAR-17 in a DMR type configuration. It's more or less between these two.
Anything worth shooting once is worth shooting twice. At least.

I've owned the older Steiner 3-12x50 for 7 months or so now. Euro optic had a fantastic price on them when the M5 series were coming out. I've basically only fondled the leupold.
I prefer the Steiner turrets as there is no movement once clicked into place. The locking adjustments on the leupold seem like a neat idea however the pinch mechanism turns with the adjustments. This may be a non issue as I simply don't have the time on the leupold.
The glass on the Steiner is great but I do wish I had some more magnification (you're looking at the 3-15 though). I do prefer the reticle in my USO but the gen2 mildot in the Steiner is very serviceable.
The Steiner will be bigger and heavier than the leupold.
I hope this was of some use to you even though I am talking about an older model.
