As soon as I got the email for the BCM keymod light mount I ordered it. It replaced my hsp picatinny mount and I couldn't be happier with it. Installation is really easy and it locks up tight. Build quality is on par with the rest of BCM's products. I'm glad I held off on the IWC thorn tail mount and got this one. If anyone is in the market I highly suggest it.

Saw this the other day. Is there anything that differentiates this from the HSP Thorntail KeyMod, as far as functionality is concerned?

I never owned the keymod version of the thorn tail so I couldn't tell you. There are differences from the picatinny version of the thorn tail and the bcm mount. The 1913 section can be moved around just like the thorn tail expcept that the bcm has a high and low option on the 1913 section.

702..

I mounted my BCM 1913 keymod like you, added my Inforce WML but had to remove my Troy folding front sight. Not enough room.
I shifted light, mount and sight but ended up using a Streamlight TL-2x 200 lumens mounted in a GGG mount. The Inforce went on the Magpul Middy Handguard on my other AR. It was late, I was tired so when rested and clear head I will do some trial and error again. May leave it like it is or order the 1" BCM keymod mount and a Surefire G2x Tactical. I'll get pics up later.

I ran into the same issue when I had the mount all the way at the end of the rail. Moved it back one space and moved the 1913 section right in the middle so there is one adjustment hole on each side of it and my wmlx went on perfectly just how I had it before I switched mounts. It is however a very right fit next to the mbus pro. Not tight enough where it's hard to mount but enough to where visually they look like they touch.

I also held off on the IWC KM thorntail mount. Was going to wait for Cameron for his video review but maybe I should just go right ahead and get it.

ESK did it again.

I almost pulled the trigger when I got the email as Ive been looking for away to mount a light on my carbine. Thinking about the 1" ring version though as I don't have a pic based light to use. I hesitated cause all the pictures show no front sight. I currently have plane jane MBUS's on the carbine and with a 13" rail the light needs to be pretty forward crowding the front sight. Was wondering if the 2 would interact OK.

I will have to add this to my research list. I'm investigating the best way for me to mount a light on my DD keymod rail.

And I haven't picked a light yet, either.

Mister 702! I followed your suggestions and worked like a champ. I flip my sight up to tighten the adjustment screw, then pop the sight back down. I also installed the shorty front grip. Didn't know if the KAG would do what I wanted, but knew a shorty would.
As soon as the photos upload I will post some. Thanks again.

I actually just turned the 1913 rail piece around where it more overhang towards the ground.
The screw holes are not centered, more to one side, just turned it around. Works fine now.

I hope the forward grip is not bothered by being directly under the gas block. It's where it is a comfortable reach.

Apples to oranges, but as the user of a scout light the Arisaka products fit my needs much better.

I wonder why they made the light canted so far away from the handguard?

And how come no one ever takes pictures of lights from the back? You know, so people can actually see the mounting position and what it looks like when firing? Just a pet peeve of mine. Not directed at anyone in particular, it's common everywhere.

Eurodriver, we made the collective decision to cant the mounts, so they would work around the most popular BUIS's on the market. Customer feedback is a heard and will only benefit future developments. Thank you.

702, a suggestion, if you're not cantilevering the mount off the front of the rail, I would recommend that you spread out the Inverted Mounting Screws (to the outer mounting holes) so The mount would have a wider, stronger footprint on the rail system.

Thanks for the interest.

I did happen to spread the screws out to do what you suggested, spread the support and forces apart.
Thanks.

I have some pics of the Thorntail KMR mount in This Thread (https://www.m4carbine.net/showthread.php?166634-keymod-mount-for-X300U-IWS-Haley-Thorntail-vs-BCM-s-Modular-Mount) in the Optics & Mounts sub-forum - along with some comments, but to summarize I think the BCM has more options and is probably the better option... If I had seen this thread first I would have went with the BCM initially, but regardless have decided to go with a smaller setup anyway most likely a Protac 1L or Scout 300 variant anyway.

What set up would you use with the PRO TAC 1L? I have several ProTac 2L's I had thought about using.

Thinking about the Proctor Light mount at 1 o'clock - it's kinda spendy though. http://www.wayofthegun.us/plm-proctor-light-mount/

As requested, here are the weights to all three light mounts:

1-inch Light Mount: 1.0 oz.
Modular Scout Mount: 0.5 oz.
Modular 1913 Light Mount: 0.9 oz.

Also, the Modular Scout Mount will not fit the Surefire M620 series (throw lever) Scout Lights. The M620 series light body has a wider footprint and the screw holes will not align.

Actually, where i have my forward grip, using it as a hand stop, my thumb lays on top of the switch pad.

I'll try and monkey a pic of that for you. Don't anyone throw me a football...

It measures 1" from center of button to left edge of rail, closest to light.

It just seems like the rail mounted/pistol-style lights sit out just just a bit further in general - my X300U on IWC mount did the same. It "seems" way out there but it's not really so much, compared to a ring light mount at 90*. Now, compared to a scout 300 or similar at 1 o'clock, (ie Arisaka mount), then yeah, it's out there :).

I tried that first with one of the supplies pieces of poly rail. It was too tight to get the light, TLR-1, mounted on the rail in that 11/1 o'clock spot. Had it mounted at 12 o'clock after I pulled the front sight back some.

I'm still waiting for the perfect extended 1" light mount... One that puts the light head in front of the rail and the rings out of the way of the Troy front BUIS allowing the light body to nest in very close to the rail while still clearing the sight. All of the light mounts I've seen leave the light too far out to the side except the Scout mounts.

I like 1" lights for two reasons. 1.) If a new light comes out with better light output or beam I can easily change it. 2.) I like the extra battery of the longer lights with 2 CR123 batteries or even an 18650.
