Rumor has it Colt has switched to small FCG holes for the current run of 6920s made this year, and currently shipping or in-stock at shops right now.

Anybody confirm or able to add what other changes there may be?

No then the collectors will drive the price up on the large pins! ;)

Kinda like those Colt Ban era M4s. I'd never have guessed those things would be scarce.

I'll probably buy another if they do. Eventually....

I picked up a new 6920 last week. When I took off the hand guard to check to see when it was manufactured I was happy to see 06/08. What is the difference in FCG and is the quality diminishing?

There should be a new batch from about the date that the poster above mentioned. Would be interesting to know, but this is the kind of thing that most people aren't going to be able to tell with the naked eye and which could very easily get mis-reported.

I already think it is a false rumor.

I have a recent production 6920 on the way. When I receive it next week I'll measure the pins and report back.

I wish COLT would change to normal size pins. From a production stand point it's got to be less expensive. The parts that are in the gun minus the selector are all cut full auto parts. Who knows!

According to the Colt reps at the NY Law Enforcement Expo today, there are no new changes in the 6920 for 2008. It's exactly the same gun.

Dumb question here. Where is the "Born ON " date located?

I have three 6920's, one of which is made by Colt in Canada, I would be interested to see a Manufacture date on the guns.

The Colt Canada guns where supposed to be small hole. Whether they are or not is unk to me. Colt mentioned last year they where removing the large FC parts from their lineup -- however they did not do so by the time they had said they where going to.

barrel date is located aft of the FSB.

no idea on other date stamps (if any)

Please excuse my ignorance. I checked my newest gun, us made, dated 12/07 (purchased in 01/07). I have a Canadian made gun purchased in 12/06. Can't find the date. Thanks for the info as to where the date is located.

What are the holes being referred to in this thread? Where exactly are they located on the receiver? I could measure the Canadian made 6920 vs. the US made one, as I believe they were made within a couple of months apart, at most, to see if the Canadian made guns are using a small hole. In case anyone was curious.

Wrong Hole f.2:p

The holes in question are the ones that hold the Fire Control Group. ie the trigger.

Ignore f.2's post above. We're talking about the hammer and trigger pins, .155 inches (milspec) vs. .170 inches (Colt), and the associated proprietary hammer and trigger.

There is a thread on TOS where the guy swears up and down he has a recent manufacture 6920 with .155 pins. He hasn't posted pics yet.

In case anyone cares, Now that I know what I am looking for, I measured both a US made and a Canadian made Colt 6920. Both guns were made at the end of 2006. Both are using the same large pins.
