Front sight (stock plastic) sheared off after shooting through a hole in a plywood barrier. Now I'm looking for new sights, what are the best options? Suppressor height sights aren't needed.

Best is such a subjective word. I really like the XS Big Dots. I have them on all of my guns and use them pretty well.

Ameriglo I Dot Pro for the price. Heinie, Warren and Trijicon HD are also good choices.

What are you looking for in the sights? Looking for night sights? Target sights? Fixed or adjustable? hree dots, two dot, one dot, gold bead, Fiber optic, ect, ect, ect. There are a lot of options, models, and more out there and to a point it is personal presence once you have decided what you are looking to get out of the sights.

I know it isn't an answer, but after a certain point sight preference is personal choice and the best is very subjective. Buy ones that are from a quality manufacturer and that fix your needs and wants and carry on.

I would also put the Trijicon HD's on this list.

I like using Trijicon night sights. I have tried Big Dot sights but I'm not accurate enough at longer distances with them but that is just me.

If you don't know or have an idea of what you want, I'd get a set of Defoor sights and run them. If you decide you want something different later on, at least you didn't throw $150 down the drain.

From someone who has spent a lot of money on different sights over 20 plus years try to check out friends or others at the range and get a feel of what you might like. There are too many choices out there but in the end go with a known quality maker.

Well it all depends on what you're after for sights.

Stock replacement?

Night sights?

Cool and unusual?

I changed out the sights on my G19 with TruGlo TFO sights. Put a pair on my Shield last year, liked em so much that I wanted the same ones on my other carry (and one of my HD) pistol.

I run Ameriglo CAP or TCAP fronts and Operator (yellow lamp) rears on all my Glocks. If the TCAP were available in an orange outline, I'd standardize on that...

I have found I like the Ameriglo Spartan Tactical series. They are pretty much identical to the Trijicon HD's, but less expensive. Also, I can attest to Ameriglo's customer service.

Dawson adjustable rear with fiber optic front.

I went with Dawson Precision adjustable rear and a serrated front based on a recommendation from a very experienced firearms instructor. I've been very happy with them.

I kinda like the idea of having a similar sight picture across firearms from different manufacturers (Glocks, M&P Shield, HK, etc), and for this reason, among others, Heinies seem to work for me. Though I like HD's as well.

I would by Heine brand, but they don't put white paint around the front tritium. I don't want it on the rear sight, but do on the front.

A person can always use SiteGlo or a similar product to paint the front sight, if that is what is desired.

Sights are such a personal choice that I feel it is hard to determine what is the "best" aftermarket sight. Depending on what your end goal is for the sights, I would say all the prior mentioned options are great. I have run 10-8s, heines, trijicon hds, warren tactical, and ameriglos. For me I wanted POA/POI at the tip of the front sight at 25 yards and for that reason I needed a sight that had the same dimensions as the stock sights. I chose Ameriglos for this reason. Ameriglo has many options as far as brightly colored front sights, tritium, and black on black. After trying almost every sight ste I could get my hands on I landed on Ameriglo Defoors. They offer a very crisp sight picture, that is easily tracked through rapid shot cadences, and offers me the accuracy at 25 yards and beyond that I wanted. The best benefit of Ameriglos is the price point. Many of the other mentioned sights will run you around $120-$160, while the Ameriglos generally come in around under $100.

Best is subjective and in the eye of the end user.

My go-to aftermarket sights are Mepro Light Sights. I also really like Heinie Ledge sights as a second choice.

I have tried so many aftermarket sights on my handguns and my two favorites when talking about combat sights are the Ameriglo I DOT pro with the orange front paint and green tritium the rear has a tritium circle in the middle of the sight ( make an 8) or the Redback one combat sights. I currently have the RB1's on my G19. A friend introduced me to them and typically I am not a blacked out rear sight person but taking their advice and reading reviews I ordered up back when they were available. After a few range trips I understood why they are so popular. IMO best combat sights I have tried thus far. The sight pictured is very easy to pick up and for combat sights I am very pleased. Their site has said that they are being manufactured by new company but it has said this for quite a while

I loved the way HD's would allow for quick sight pictures with the big bright front sight but eventually grew to hate the sloping rear site digging into my side and eating up my outer garments.

I have Glock night sights on my EDC G26. I have Sevigny Competition(narrow square notch in rear) plain Black rear with FO front on my 17, Warren Carry (wider contoured notch in rear) sights,Plain Black rear with FO front on my Gen 2 19. Different sights for different jobs I guess. Dave Dawson taught me how to install them all.

I've had Heinie Straight Eight night sights on my 19 Gen 4 for almost four years now. I got the "slant-pro" version which has smoothed edges on the rear sight. I vastly prefer the vertical line-up over three dot, but everybody has their preferences.

I've tried I-dot, or 2-dot pattern sights before. I could never get used to it. Sure, horizontal alignment was fast, but vertical alignment was always an issue for me. I much prefer having a traditional 3 dot setup, with the rear sights being a different color form the fronts.

Truglo TFO's work for me. The green on both front and rear seem to be brighter than the orange rears. I have the green on 3 different guns. I have trijicons (non HD) on a few as well. At night those are ok, but not as bright as the TFO's during the day. As most have already said, what works for me may not work for you and vise versa.

The Trijicon HD's are the best of the ones I have used (which constitutes only a small part of what's out there, so take that for what it's worth).
The regular Trijicon Bright & Tough sights are pretty good too.

Ameriglo I Dot Pro for the price. Heinie, Warren and Trijicon HD are also good choices.

Here's the perfect answer. I run all of these on my handguns and they are simply superb. If I had to choose one, it would be the Trijicon HD, but the Ameriglo I Dot Pros are exceptional, too.

10-8 Performance U-Notch sights are very good, too, IMHO.

10-8 Fiber is the way to go IMO. I like .140 Rear & .115 Front. At night/low light you HAVE to have a light & tritium doesn't do much for you with a light.

I've been using warren tactical plain rear with tritium front sight posts on most of my Glocks with great success. They are not so heavy on the wallet and get the job done for me. The brownells exclusive truglo tfo front with plain rear set peaked my interest so I ordered a set for my g19. The original tfo's with the two inserts in the rear were to busy for me so I liked the idea of a plain rear, there also priced right as well.

Totally up to you. Might as well ask, "Whats the best car? Holster? Tooth brush?"

You'll just have to look at all kinds of sights on other guns and see what trends you like. There are just so many to choose from. Big? Small? Bright? Black?, etc.

As for me I like accurate sights. I like the front to stand out and the rear not to.

My Glocks have the Ameriglo "TCap" front sight (.123 width, lime green square luminescent paint and small vial Tritium) and on the rear the Ameriglo black with .130 groove.

I pick up the front in a decent time frame and they are accurate for me. They aren't perfect because all sights are a compromise. Someone else said something like, "Whatever the sights there is some situation where they suck". I think it's true.

Basically, at very close range the sights aren't even needed. At long ranges, (say 20 yds and further out) you need precise sights. Between the two is personal preference but use what you like and shoot well with.

What I like, and what Bob down the street likes won't be the same thing the OP is best suited to. Anyone pushing their favorite sight as the "best" is simply hoping for validation of their opinion, nothing more.
