Is there a reason (not that you need one, just asking) to serrate/checker the rear of the slide like that? It's not a gripping surface. The only other reason I can think of is glare reduction, or just for the hell of it.

You know, you're practically building my dream browning to the letter.
prefer serrated, for what it's worth. Are you matching a rear sight?

Yes to both. It also gives a better gripping surface if the slide needs a little nudge with the thumb and gives the gunsmith a chance to show off their checkering skills- all of which make serrations nice to have but not necessary

So, checkering happened. About 85% cut. Will touch up right before finishing. Slide is getting sights this week.

Not unhappy with the result, actually.

To lazy to start a new thread for mag wells:

Gonna make a die to crimp those mag corners. Seems like a reasonable fix to the issue.

That looks very sweet. I absolutely wish I had your patience.

It's not patience. This is stress relief. When I reach saturation with paying work, I fool around a little. Keeps me out of trouble.

Cleaned up a little to see where more work is needed:

I really need to learn how to do this, build a 1911 or high power and fit it from scratch and do all that. Just for my own fun or stress relief :)
