View Full Version : Swapping 33rd extended base plate for 17rd flat plate?
I have two factory 33rd Glock mags and was wondering can I take off the +2 extensions on them and put my 17rd base plate on and make them 31 rounders and put the extensions on two of my 17 round mags and be good to go? I'd rather have +2 on my standard mags then on the extended. Thanks
Sure can. I've done exactly that....
Ok thanks, just wanted to make sure their wouldn't be any reliability issues

please consider using 11 coil springs instead of the factory 10 coil.

In the 9mm 17rd mags?
yes, in your g17 mags with +2 extensions.
Thanks, and it seems the g19 mags with +2 and stock spring are good to go?

Personally I would just use g17 mags, but if you're after the look, put your old 10 coil g17 springs in the g19 mag with +2 extender.
I just figured I'd get better use out of the 33rd's extensions on standard mags. I didn't want to cause any issues with reliability. I have a spare 10 round g26 mag that I haven't done anything with since I bought that gun since I carry 17rd spare. Is that one ok with stock spring for a +2?
lol im sorry, all of these mags with the oem spring and a +2 will work just fine.
Seems to be mixed opinions on the spring issue from searching. I may put the +2 on my spare 10rd and 17rd range mag to test reliability.
G17/22- normally 10 coil, recommend 11 coil for extenders or WMLs
G19/23- normally 9 coil, recommend 10 coil for extenders or WMLs
G26/27- normally 9 coil, already has more than enough spring tension

Ive run 5-6 17r round mags with GLOCK +2's for a long time now. Keep loaded for months and months on end. They've worked 100% every time with OEM springs.
As an aside...Ive also been using the Arredondo mag extensions on my G17 9mm & G41 45ACP. Had them for a couple years or more..and they've been extremely reliable, fwiw.
Those GLOCK extensions can be had on sale at CDNN most of the time for $5.99 fyi.

I've had issues with OEM springs and +2 extensions. When I use extensions now I always grab a wolff +10% spring.

I have three 17 mags with the Arredondo +6 basepad/spring kit. Had them a few years and I've never had any problems with them during 3-gun competition or during high-round-count classes. I also have never been able to shove +6 in, but +5 is great!
