Magpul AK handguard question

I finally got the Magpul AK handguard but am curious about the sling loop on the retainer. I have the sling loop...can I just cut it off or should I have ordered the AKM handguard?

You should have got the AKM handguard. I don't see an reason as to why you couldn't cut off the loop in order to get it to fit.

That's what I figured. Thank you. Didn't want to decide to cut off the sling loop and be SOL if it didn't work. Tried calling Magpul before and no one answered. Called again an hour later and they answered and confirmed it would work if I decide to cut off the loop

You aren't SOL if you end up not wanting the handguard.

It's not a hard job to replace a handguard retainer, and the retainer itself is $20... find a person with a shop press you can use, and it's a 15 minute job.
