Hello everyone. I am trying to decide between a sig mk25 TB and a beretta 92g-sd. This will be my go to do all Shtf pistol and will see a light and be a suppressor host. I know I will have to get the barrel threaded on the beretta.
Which would you buy?

I had a Sig 229 and Beretta 92. Both very nice shooters, but the 92's grip was just too fat for my slightly stubby fingers. I also found the Sig easier to rack.

AND, I have a Sig M11-A1 on the way to my FFL.

If I did not have my 226 ELITE, I would have ordered a 226 Combat or the Mk25.

The 92 G-SD is nice, just not 1200.00 nice. Still smallish sights and slide mounted decocker. Need longer thumb.

Nice guns. What model is the one in the lower picture? Also how do you like that tlr2?

I'd get the beretta for more consistent QC imo.

My brig tac and g-sd both have wilson short triggers and D-springs installed, so i also prefer their trigger reach and DA pull to the mk25 I sold.

I will get another Sig mk25 in the future though, mostly for collecting.

Not the Beretta for me. It's my issue pistol and I don't care for the high mounted after and massive grips. Plus I get a lot of sluggish slide locks because of grip and also my fingers sits on the side release so last round usually won't lock the slide back.

I opted for the MK25 but a 92 Inox remains on my list of future purchases.

I don't think you can go wrong with either choice. Pick the one that best fits your hands.

That's what I'm thinking El CID. Quickstrike, could you elaborate more on the qc issues?

Either would work well...I'd also suggest looking at one of the Stainless Beretta Vertec's, smaller grip,(1911 like) removable front, rear, sights beveled mag well.. I removed the stock polymer coated stamped trigger from mine, and replaced it with a Beretta factory steel trigger, and a Elite II hammer, and D spring.. The DA pull is smooth, Reset is short. Set up like this, this thing is easy to shoot, and shoot well. I'd also add Beretta's are pretty easy to work on, (the exception here might be removing the firing pin) mags are cheap and easy to find, you can get spring pack's from Wolfe that have every spring in the gun for around $20, If you plan on keeping it long term maybe add a spare locking block (easily available from Beretta, Midway, etc for about $30-40 and you should be good to go..

Beretta, do all the basic mods, keep extra recoil springs and have 1 extra locking block..latest gen...and youll be good to go.

Beretta for me. I don't like where SIG puts their slide catch, my long thumbs have a hard time staying away.

I have a mk25 tb and absolutely love it. Every once in awhile I hit the slide release. But I also do it on my vp9. The mk25 has been bulletproof and is a real shooter. I added the srt and some e2 grips. Good luck both are good guns

Wilson Combat Brigadier Tactical > 92G-SD

Compare them feature for feature and dollar for dollar.

Sig had a reputation of spotty quality under new management in previous years. This is from multiple reliable sources (google it). One of the reason old stamped slide guns are so coveted by some. Not sure about current production.

Beretta hasn't ever had a period of poor quality in recent history, to my knowledge. So = more consistent.

The mk25 comes with the short extractor also. Instead of the so called dreaded long extractor.

I've had both. The Beretta is a quicker handling, flatter shooting gun in my hands. Grip is the same size as a Glock 19, trigger reach is just longer.

Don't have the beretta, but have the Taurus version. Really like it, but would probably still go with the Sig.

I have a ~ 2007 (?) production 92FS Brigadier, and just picked up one of the current re-released 92G-SD's.

The Brigadier was flawless; tight fit, but very smooth. A very solid gun with no rattle when you shake it. I lost track of how many thousands of rounds have been thru it, but it had only two failures. One was ammo related (crap gunshow reloads), and the other was when a new shooter limp wristed it.

The 92G-SD hasn't been fired yet, but fit and finish is equally as good as the older Brigadier. Every Beretta I came across has been equally as solid. In my opinion their quality is very consistent.

I've shot an older German Sig; I don't remember the model, but it was a 9 mm with no rail. To me the grip was too large. I have small to medium hands. While Berettas are known for large grips, the shape of the grip just fits really well for me.

From just handling a few of the newer Sig's, they just felt really cheap to me. I know that doesn't say much, but there was a noticeable difference in the build quality of the newer production guns vs the older German model I tried.

I do have to say though, the price of the 92G-SD seems more based on the rarity/collector value of the model vs the features of what you get. Don't get me wrong, to me it was worth the price, but I'm also in CA and my options are really limited. You might want to look at the Wilson Combat version.

ETA: I am a little biased against Sig. Not so much that I dislike the company. It's just that here in CA we're only offered a very different line of Sig's than the rest of the country. They're layered with so many worthless extra safety features; I'm just surprised they don't come with bandaid dispensers.

I have shot both and I have a Mk25 and an "old school" M11 that I built up. I prefer the Sig over Beretta as the DA trigger pull (to me) is one weight as the Beretta seems to "stack" the weight or get heavier as you pull the trigger. I also like that the slide is free of any controls. If your going to buy a Sig then buy the MK25 as they go though more QC than their normal guns. Do yourself the favor, spend the $50 and put the SRT (Short Reset Kit) in your gun when you get it......you can thank me later. Just buy some MecGar 18 rd mags (if legal in your state) and rock the shit out of the gun.

Major issue with Sig Sauer is that they are their own worst enemy when it comes to their product line. They have a great marketing campaign as does Kimber so everyone knows who they are. The problem is they try to make a model for everyone instead of sticking to making a base line of guns that are rock solid. They need to go back to making the P220, P226, P228, P229 and keep the P227, P224, and P239 and dump the rest. Go back to the basics and not have 10-15 different variations of the same thing. Just my $0.02 worth on that subject....

If you decide on a Beretta then by all means get the Wilson Combat 92G-BT with the factory trigger work. The 92G-SD sucks by comparison.

Nice guns. What model is the one in the lower picture? Also how do you like that tlr2?

The bottom gun is a 1996 vintage Sig 239 9mm. When I carried a 226 daily, this was my off duty carry.

When I carried a 5906, a 3913 was my off duty. Tried to keep my simple mind as simple as possible.

I have an M&P9 FS and a Shield 9 also.

Way back when I carried a S&W 27, I had a 19 2.5" and a mod 60 38spec. A Colt 1911 45acp too...

KISS method.

I one time had a Beretta 92c. Great gun, nobody made holsters for it back in the early 80's. 92F yes, but not the c, compact.

TLR-2 was heavier and no holster to fit it. This was a bedside gun. I sold the TLR-2 and bought another TLR-1.
I had the laser set for the longest shot inside my house to co-witness with the sights. I had no problems with the 2 at all.

I was our agency department armorer when we started issuing the German made Sig 226 9mm early early 90's. We had 50 guns for issue.
At 5 years I changed out the springs in every gun and magazine.
At 11 years the sights were going dim so Sig made an offer and the agency made a change to 226 DAK in 357 Sig.
Those were still in service when I retired in 08.
The only problems we had with the early Sig 226's was 147gr Hydra Shok and limp wristed shooters.
Changed to Speer 115gr +P GDHP then to the 124gr +P GDHP never had another limp wristed problem.
My first Sig duty gun had serial number U418924. Sig took all those old guns in trade, but could not resell them to us,
they were already sold to an unknown customer.

The 92G-SD is a collectible gun. The SIG is not.

Go with the Beretta.

Thanks for all the replies. I think I am going to go with the sig first. I am probably going to end up with a beretta also in the near future. As long as I can sneak it in the house.

I love my Sig MK25 i've also heard the Sig has one of the best suppressor host around and you can't Forget about the Sig night sights nice tall grabs your attention and the rear site has a nice hook style to grab on belts and pants shoes and also walls and you can easily rack the slide with your index finger Love the decocking lever Double action I believe is a 10 pound trigger pull and the single action is 4 pounds of trigger pull so needless to say on double action you're not going to accidentally discharged this weapon and in my opinion no external safety on the slide is a bonus. Also you should check out the short reset trigger upgrade.
