Had a little adventure yesterday that reminded me of why I like the little EDC bag (https://www.m4carbine.net/showthread.php?163752-EDC-Organizers-What-U-Got) I put together so much. I was walking in the state park and the women ahead of me a few hundred yards walking her dog. Her dog does what dogs do and bounds off the trail into the woods. I hear the dog in obvious distress and woman runs into the woods. I came up and she yelled for help. The dog had gotten tangled up in some nasty wire attached to a log. Typical of a dog, it panicked and made it worse by trying it's hardest to pull away and had a nasty laceration on it's leg and plenty of blood and now panicked woman. I told her to hold the hold the dog still. I used the little pry tool to get the wire disconnected from the log where it was nailed. I used the wire snip on the little Leatherman tool to cut the wire. I did have my folder and used that to cut off his collar as the tags and shit were nicely stuck on the wire, but had I not had the folder, that little knife in the EDC bag would have done the trick. I wrapped the dogs leg in the tissues I had and told her to keep pressure (gonna add a few larger gauze bandages after this experience!) and carried the dog back to her car.
Dog was losing blood and there was trail of drops to her car, but dogs are tough and I guessed (not being a vet, or doggy EMT) he would be fine with some stitches.
It's not exactly saving Timmy from a well, but I was happy I had that little bag with me. It fits easily in cargo pants pocket, etc.
