So I recently bought 2 sets, from different vendors, of Spartan Tactical night sights for a pair of g19s. One set was was dated 2014, the other 2015. The 2015 rear sight has what looks to be a hex screw in the base, the 2014 set doesn't have this screw. Here's what the rear set looks like:

33608

I ask because I shot 150rds through the g19 with the 2015 sights today and was shooting a little low at 7yds,maybe 3 inches or so. It's probably me just needing to get used to the new sight picture coming from standard glock sights, but here's 2 questions:

1-does the set sceew in the rear sight serve a purpose?

2-and if so, is it some sort of means to adjust elevation, etc?

A set screw on a fixed sight only serves to lock it in place.

Yap, to lock the sight in place, preventing drifting. If you tried to use it for elevation and did in fact manage to rise the sight, you may be diving the nose when shooting. I would also check the dovetail for damage as the set screw is not meant for elevation.
