I was fortunate enough to obtain the latest revision of the HK416 stock and one version of their pistol grip. I've seen at least two stocks and three grips. I am not sure if the HK417 has still more of each.

Old HK416 and new HK416:

Upon first glance, the stock looked well made. It is definately solid. The buttplate is hard rubber. There are two types of sling attachments at the rear including, of course, the HK ring. As you will see, it has a storage compartment.

I remembered reading somewhere (I have to start writing this stuff down) the the receiver extension might be commercial spec. Or was it just on the MR223 version sold in Germany? Don't know but what I do know is that the stock has significant wobble on a milspec extension. Zee Germans strike again. Commercial tube inbound.

The grip simply ROCKS. It is the most comfortable grip I have ever tried. The grip angle seems slightly less severe than the usual suspects (Magpul, TD) and I like the thinness on top combined with the curvature of the palm swell. This version has a very secure storage compartment that opens with about a 25 degree twist.

First, the grip:

The buttstock storage compartment opens by pulling the top of the recoil pad slightly toward you and then rotating it 90 degrees from 12 o'clock to 9 o' clock. It comes completely off if you want:

When the extension gets here I'll take the stock to the range and see how it feels.

Nice pics but that HK stuff looks horrible, too space age for me. I'll stick to my Magpul gear. I like the angle of the HK grip :)

Cohiba, great thread.

Thanks for taking the time to post such a detailed description of the new HK stock & grip.

I have seen them before but did not know any details.

I'm with you on the pistol grip. I have that same grip on my Noveske N4 and I love the feel and look.

I also had the new style HK stock for a while and thought it was one of the nicest stocks I've used. Mine fit nice and tight on my Vltor mil-spec tube though so I'm not sure whats up with the that.

Great pics!

The stock is. $175 from the HK webstore. I have not seen the grip anywhere. These were take offs.

I've heard that too Mike but I definately have wobble. Should have the new extension this weekend so we'll see.

A very observant member, Tom Jones, pointed out that my pics of the lock on the bottom grip are wrong. I wasn't turning it hard enough. You need to rotate it 90 degrees. The cap is so tight, I thought I had indeed locked it with the slight turn. Thanks TJ.

I brought your concern up with the HK rep a while back.
The factory 417 & 416 we had out took my LMT SOPMOD perfectly with no play after I asked him about the wiggle issue.
I wonder if they make different stocks of the 2 diameters?
I didn't think to ask him at that point since I had seen with me eye balls that the milspec one worked. IDIOTS.lol

Very cool, thanks for posting that. What's the ETA on these being available, and can they be purchased separately or only with a 416 lower?
