View Full Version : Where's This Gas Coming From?

I have two identical BCM 16" middy uppers, both w/Inforce WMLx's installed in the same location. Both WMLx's have gas residue in the exact same location. Where the heck is this gas coming from?

Probably from where the gas tube enters the fsb, or venting out of the roll pin that hold the gas tube in.

My money is on gas and residue escaping from the roll pin hole in the FSB, or something to that affect.

Not something I would be worried about. I don't think it is going to be coming out hot enough or fast enough to jack up the light. Considering some like to run lights out next to FHs and muzzle brakes and don't report constant breakage, other than complaining about carbon build up on the lens I think you shall be just fine.
If you are worried about the finish of the light slap some electrical tape on it to catch the residue, if not, carry on and keep running those bitches.

Off topic. What is on the right side of your rifle? It is annoying me that I can't ID it.

Looks like a little Nav light.

Interesting, thanks.

How many rounds through these rifles? I had a BCM upper that leaked at the FSB for about a 1000 rounds or so that sealed itself. Most likely with carbon, I guess.

Appx 800rds through one, appx 1300rds through the other. I'll keep an eye out for self-sealing.

Odds are just like a few others said its coming from the role pin. I wouldnt worry about it. My bcm low profile gas block leaks the same way and leaves build up on my hand guard. More I shoot the less I clean each time. Its probably filling up carbon and crap.

I wouldn't worry about it. There is a tiny bit of gas leakage aech time you fire until it seals itself.

As far as the MFT torch, I think I found my new hat light while flying. I have a ton of picatinny rail slots laying around so I may as well screw them into a hat bill and use a new light. I have to wait for my SF Helmet light to die first which will be in about never.

That looks to be the same thing as the Princeton Tec Switch Rail.

It is, as even MFT annotates on their website. The only difference(s) I've been able to discern is that the MFT Torch has MFT logo and MFT offers a double white 20lumen LED model.
