Correct. Just buy the LemiShine at walmart. I just run whatever dishwashing liquid is in the kitchen. (put the liquid detergent in last so you don't get foaming when you're filling the drum)

Ahhh,,,thanks i cant wait to try after dry vibe tumbling this whole time. I will write those instructions down and put them in the thumler instructions. The american eagle i shoot (factory ammo) leaves the cases really sooty i think this technique will do a better job than the vibe tumbler,it doesnt get all the soot off,its close but still leaves stains.

It will also be nice to not have to sit and clean 500 primer pockets with the hand tool. Iam also hopeing this will get the inside of my pistol brass clean and to not have to wash cases first then tumble. Seems like a real time saver.

I didnt see the info on their website gona go check it out. Thanks again.

I take it the thumlers a-r12 will work ok. I got it and a bunch of rock tumbling media plus some spare parts, they threw in anything that said thumlers new in boxes at a hobbie store that was closeing its doors for 75 bucks.

Unfortunately the spare parts fit other smaller tumblers, but there was like 6 boxes of rock tumbling media.

All i need to do now is grab some lemishine.

I don't think you're s'posed to use rock tumbling media to clean brass cases!

Iam just making sure that the thumler a- r12 is suitable for use.

It will work but it is smaller and holds 12 pounds and the Thumler's Model B Brass Tumbler holds 15 pounds. You will need to run tests for the correct time on cleaning, because the unit is smaller than model B.

Rotary Brass Tumblers

Thumler's A-R12 Rotary Brass Cleaner
12-pound capacity barrel
150-200 rifle shells
Works with corn cob, walnut shell or stainless steel media
Soft rubber barrel keeps it quiet
Water tight for use with steel media
Inside dimensions: Height: 7 3/8 in - Diameter: 6 in
Overload protected motor
Thumler's A-R12 tumbler is a 12-pound capacity tumbler that will clean about 150-200 rifle cartridges depending on the caliber and media used.

This tumbler has a rubber barrel that will keep the noise down during the cleaning and polishing process. It will take about 3 hours to run a batch of brass in this tumbler. If you don't get the desired results with in 4-5 hours it may be necessary to recharge or replace your media.

Thumler's High Speed Model B
Rotary Reloading Tumbler
15-pound capacity barrel
250 30-30 rounds
Works with corn cob, walnut shell or stainless steel media
Metal barrel frame with rubber lining and lid gasket
Heavy duty
Inside dimensions: Height: 8 1/8 in - Diameter: 7 1/8 in
High speed 3000 rpm overload protected motor
The Model B tumbler is a large capacity, heavy duty, professional quality tumbler that is a standard piece of equipment used by handloading experts. It has a 15-pound capacity barrel that when loaded can process about 250 30-30 rounds or an equivalent amount of other caliber rounds in about 3-4 hours.

The barrel is constructed of a metal frame with a quarter inch thick rubber insert that will clean and polish the brass with minimal noise. The Model B lid is a metal plate that fits over a thick rubber gasket. The lid is tightened down by six washers and wing nuts. The rubber gasket creates a watertight seal between the rubber insert and metal lid. Having this watertight seal allows you to use water, soap and steel pin media to polish brass cartridges if you prefer that over corn cob or walnut shell media.

This is the high speed Model B that is powered by a quality motor with overload protection. The metal base and barrel have been finished with a powder coat paint job that will resist rusting for a long time. This is a very high quality machine.

I think you will be fine with the ar 12. I use the Harbor freight dual drum tumbler.

I don't always use the wet cleaning method, but this is my routine when I do.

1. Deprime
2. Tumble for 1.5-2 hours with water, Lemishine and dish washing liquid
3. Rinse and separate the brass from the SS media ( I use Dillon media separator)
4. Dump in towel, fold the 4 corners and shake to remove the excess water.
5. Lube the cases then resize (the cases are not yet completely dry in this step)
6. Wash with soap and water to remove the lube.
7. Repeat step 4
8. Dump in vibratory tumbler with crush walnut and car polish and tumble for 30min.
The cases are dry and ready to reload. The car polish will retard tarnishing of the brass and the dust from the walnut media will act as a dry lubricant during bullet seating.

Develop a routine that is convenient and applicable to you.

Before and after ( I normally don't wet clean pistol brass)

Ok, thanks everyone for posting. I just couldnt pass up the deal on the r-12 NIB for $75.
I noticed more people use the B tumbler becouse of its advantages, but this was the only one they had. I wish they would have had the B i would have got both.

I also picked up a NIB weller soldering station (WES51) thats a $100 for 39 bucks , i fix everything my self so i couldnt pass it up either. After the fire i lost all my tools, having a family owned engine machine and fab. shop it really sucked loseing all my tools much less everything else. Now if i get through my kidney DR. appointment on thurs. and find out iam gona live a few more years eveything might be getting back to normal after 3.5 years. I have to get off and get ready for tropical storm bill to come through were supposed to be getting 9.7 inches of rain in the next 48hrs on top of the 32 inches we have gotten so far this year...jeeeze

Texas, I understand you got a bargain, but I wonder why anybody else would bother with a rock tumbler when the Frankford rotary tumbler is cheaper and bigger?

I looked at their tumbler at Cabelas last week , it also comes with the stainless pin media.
I picked up one of their 750gr small digital scales on sale to try after useing the rcbs check weights on it,its a nice little scale for checking powder throws , if your easy with it it stays pretty darn close to my beam scale.
Not a gem,but for $20 bucks its not supposed to be. I can double check with the beam if theres a problem. So far its never been off by more than a 10th compared to the beam.

Yeah.. anything that agitates will be fine. I run about 130 pieces of .223 in mine for 3 hours. I bet the Thumler A is comparable in the same run time.
