My two young boys are very into the Green Berets (blaming Barry Sadler for that one!) and we're considering making the road trip down to the Airborne & Special Operations Museum in Fayetteville, NC. We're planning to go over the July 4th weekend and had the following questions:

Any recommended places to camp? Was thinking Lazy Acres Campground (http://www.lazyacrescampground.net) or Lake Waldo's Beach Campground (http://www.lakewaldosbeachcampground.com)
Is there any place special to watch July 4th fireworks in Fayetteville?
We might want to view the paratroopers jump at Sicily Drop Zone. What are the logistics to do this?

Happy to take any other recommendations or information from my NC brethren. Thanks in advance!

Spent many, many years at Bragg, but can't help at all with camping options. As far as fireworks, check to see if they are still doing them on post. No better display around. Posting of state flags with howitzer salutes and the Division Band playing. Used to be on the Main Post Parade Field, but it may have gone with way of the buffalo given budget cuts. Have a great time and safe travels.

Check the 82nd Airborne Division Facebook page for the jump schedule spectators can go to.

Go camping pretty much anywhere in Lillington.

No idea on fireworks on post. Call the Fort Bragg Public Affairs Office and I'm sure they'll be able to square you away.

*ETA: While on post, go check out the JFK Special Warfare Museum and the 82nd Airborne Museum. Both are on Ardennes and are free to boot.
