Warning: someone gets lit up in this video, I presume he died.

Sgt Green is a boss. Immediately reacted, pulled the POS away from his partner and into a location where the Applebee's wasn't a backstop, drew quickly, and stopped the threat.

He also pushed away a table setting as they walked past so the POS wouldn't use it as a weapon. Turns out he had a gun anyway.

The other officer only discharges her weapon after the POS is down. I'm not LEO and while I don't think it matters in the grand scheme of things, that probably wasn't ok?

Griffin did nothing wrong. Dude still had the weapon on him and she didn't know if he was alive or not.

Green is a boss for sure though. He is a good LEO and I'm glad they both made it home safely.

Sometimes people just don't wanna go back to jail...

Good instructional video. You both made good points. Anyone else's adrenaline get going watching that?

Glad both LEO were OK.

She didn't do anything wrong. Like Euro said, he still had the gun and they had no way of knowing if he was still active. And yeah, Sgt Green is pretty much a boss. He handled everything from the initial contact to the gun about as good as you could ask.

My heart is pounding! Good job Green. Not LEO here, but that guy seemed to be "on."

Both were cleared and are back at work.

The POS apparently pulled a "replica pellet" 1911. So it looks like suicide by cop.

Great police work and response-
Good shoot; shame it had to happen over a divorce, some stolen beer, and a BB gun.

That guy was a moron.

Looks like body cams worked great here. Everyone who's interested can see exactly what happened. No anonymous witness "he didn't do nuffin" sort of claims.

Imagine the media response if there weren't body cams...

"Police shoot and kill man for stealing beer."

Is it just me or are criminals getting dumber?

Good shoot regardless

There would be no media coverage of this at all. "Victim" was white.

WTF. At first I though it was a training video. What special kind of stupid is in the water. Hopefully this idiot died before having a chance to procreate.

You speak the truth!

Additionally, it is a good video to show how "Police shoot man 13 times for stealing beer" can be quite misleading! (I counted 13 shots)

I thought same based on how poorly and slow he drew the gun, then just figured maybe he just sucks.

Sgt. Green was quick on the draw and on target quick. Very cool under pressure. Looked like the female officer drew a taser first and the guy was still moving when she fired on him. Both handled it very well IMO.

This is some incredible footage. It also shows that no matter the situation, it can go south damn quick. It really did seem like the guy wanted to die though. I am glad both LEO's are safe, and they will easily be cleared in this as a good shoot. Anyone else notice that Green moved the silverware on the table as they were walking out so the suspect wouldn't be able to grab it and use it as a weapon? He seems like a very good Officer. Great situational awareness.

She didn't do anything wrong..

You guys are on crack. They both did things wrong.

1) Terry search before leaving bathroom.

2) Don't pull a taser if you think the guy has a gun.

Fortunately it was not a real gun.

He moved it 6 inches. Had back to suspect several times whjile walking out.

Lucky to be alive.

Don;t want to sound critical. but holy cow that is how not to do it. Rookies?

Glad they survived, hope others can learn and improve.

Guy kept his hands up, with the paper towel for nearly the entire walk, who does that?

No one.

That should have been a very huge "wtf is he doing that for?" light bulb.

Otherwise good shoot.

Context brother.

The "did no wrong" we were referring to was her shooting the perp after he was already down and had been hit 11 times.

Nothing else.

Same here. Props to SGT Green on the fast draw, and rapid fire.

Officers handled the situation, kept Crapablebees out of the crossfire, and ate that dude's lunch.

That's what I was thinking between :49 and :52 saw it for an instance and then gun comes up in the same hand - quick transition - wonder why she drew TASER? Maybe in previous contacts she had been TASER officer and it kind of imprinted on her so she had a short slip and capture error episode. But she was up and into the fight fast even dumping the TASER

There aren't very many contacts that go perfect.

I can see a good reason for NOT doing the Terry pat in the restroom - easy to get your ass kicked in a confined space if the guy gets lucky or is just having a better day, maybe no room for partner to position for contact cover. We can debate tactics, but ultimately as long as there was some degree of thought in the application, these officers were doing better than many.

Going out, the officer in front chokes off the escape route, the officer behind should be in escort; maybe have the first officer go forward, turn and hold as the second officer moves the subject, but that requires almost SWAT practice choreography; I'm dang sure not going to back out down that aisle. It's problematic moving folks out of locations like that - it didn't seem to me like they could have moved one on either side of the guy. Sgt. Green did turn and wait until the guy was past that table - moving the silverware at all showed he was thinking.

I also like the fact that Sgt. Green didn't try to wrestle for the weapon, instead he impaired the guy's balance - slowing him down - and disengaged, creating distance while going to the lethal option. Officer Griffin, IMO was in too much of a hurry to get on the radio, it is probably better to make sure the gunfight is over before handling admin tasks.

Just my shot at 20/20 hindsight.

When a colleague of mine first showed this video to me I thought, "wow those body cams look like there from Universal Soldier". I know the Sci-Fi geek comes out in me often. Then the split screen reminded me of a game but then the fireworks start, WOW!

Good on Sgt. Green! This will be used for In Service classes for years to come.

+1 That might be the understatement of the year.
