View Full Version : ADAMS CUSTOM RIFLES/TIKKA/6.5CM
Big shout out for Dennis @ http://www.adamscustomrifles.com/ He just delivered, that's right, delivered the Tikka 6.5 Creedmoor today. I wanted to standardize some things and elected to rebarrel the CTR from .260 to 6.5CM. I do reload but wanted that factory option also. All I can say is be confident with his work, patience and communication. We spoke on the phone to hammer out exactly what I wanted in the build and he kept communication updates throughout the entire time. I would say he went above and beyond in that realm.
I took this as a great opportunity to install the Tikka Performance 20moa rail since he removed the stock 0moa one and the the whatever bonding agent they put on these things. The fluting is awesome, flat medium twist-even check out the red safety indicator dot!
Once again, thanks Dennis!
Hope to get to the range Sunday, if not one day next week, towards the end and start collecting data. Going with factory AMAX first to make brass!
Mark

Wow, that turned out amazing!!! The bolt fluting looks really good. Did Dennis complete that work as well?

Yes, he's set up to do them and has a great price on it. He also did the Cerakote. Yes, I'm really pleased with the work and how it all turned out.

That is a great looking rig. Pardon my ignorance but what is the Weibad cover? I have a couple friends rocking the element and I'm not seeing what is different on yours. Thanks.

They make cheekpiece covers and had not made one to date for the XLR cheekpiece. I asked them to make one and they spun this up, should be offering them on the site-may have to call. Different as they had to sew the three securing straps lengthwise.

Please disregard my question in the bolt action picture thread. This is effing awesome as I'm a huge fan of Wiebad cheek pads.

Love the build, Mr. Adams does great work. I can't wait to see some groups out of it.
Now available for the XLR online: http://wiebad.mybigcommerce.com/stock-pads/
Apparently I have the second and third manufactured to date :)

Very, very nice. This is only making me want a Tikka more and more!
Sent from 80ms in the future
Much peace

Do it! You will be happy. Glad they have them online now for the Element, of course any XLR cheek piece will work.
Getting her tweaked. Overall, happy and consistent with performance, so much for mine! Mirage was a chore, hope to go out to 1000+ tomorrow. Pulled a good one at 300-actual went off spotter wind call on first shot and wheeled them back over starting at shot two.

Excellent build Mark! Thinking of doing a 22" 6.5 Creed in the future and am curious about load data and what velocities you are getting.
Thanks,
Servo
Only shot the factory 120 amax so far, going 2900 average, multiple 1/2" groups or less. Getting right at what factory specs with 24" barrel. This barrel is very slick, was curious with copper and using Boretech copper remover after 48(again just curious) was hardly any detectable blue on the patch. I got a smoking deal on some 120 AMAX so will be using them first with H4350. Hope to try some next weekend if the weather permits.
Thanks for the reply Mark!
Sending 120's at 2900 out of a 22" barrel is impressive. I feel more confident about going the 22" route with my own future build, it seems they give up little to the 26" barreled guns.
Mark, That would be the finest Tikka on the planet. Congrats on the build. It's great to find a good smith huh? Keep us posted on your 1,000 yard outing. Good luck.

Did make it out last Friday, nothing to write home about(my skills:eek:) But shots would be within the C zone if shot on(used steel) 1 moa, so I'm happy with that under field conditions and what you guys deal with a bunch--mirage. Man, that can make your target look like a balloon!.
Indeed, it is nice to find that "guy on the corner" when building a rifle. I would like to do a light hunter one day with Adam's. I have 20 ready to go at various charge weights, see what shakes out!

2910 to be exact. Average with magnetospeed, I need to see what they are from a 24" and what the factory 140's are doing from the 22".
Yea, you can feel goofy plinking with $3k gun and hunting with $700 gun. Make you crazy. Yep, get that guy to build that same caliber in a hunter. It will take down a big buck deer and would do fine work on a coyote .
Just an excuse to have another bolt gun! I hope Tikka offers a 6.5 in the next year or so. Freaking venison gets expensive!
