You do realize that the true birthday of America is 19 April 1775 ? That is when the war started, when blood was spilled and it wasn't for taxes. The Kings soldiers were sent to take all firearms, powder, shot, cannons, yes you could own a cannon back then, and the people who possessed these items. The war was going on for over a year when the Declaration was signed.

"Between 1768-1777, the British policy was to disarm the American colonists by whatever means possible, from entrapment, false promises of safekeeping, banning imports, seizure, and eventually shooting persons bearing arms.

By 1774, the British had embargoed shipments of arms to America, and the Americans responded by arming themselves and forming independent militia companies.

On the night of 18 April 1775, General Gage, Governor of Massachusetts, dispatched several hundred soldiers of the Boston garrison under the command of Major Pitcairn to seize the arms and munitions stored by the illegal colonial militias in Concord.

When Pitcairn encountered the Minutemen on the Lexington common blocking his way, he demanded that they throw down their arms and disperse. Although willing to disperse, the Minutemen were not willing to surrender their arms. The rest is history."

Sad thing is with our current POTUS he'd be waving a gay pride flag and riding a dildo with an isis sticker.

Do people celebrate the day they were conceived or the day your umbilical cord was cut?

cottage is the symbol of democracy. It is our job to see that it stays
there." --George Orwell

We got a mess of pork chops, chicken breast, wings, and ribeyes! Skipping the traditional burgers and dogs... Oh and a few venison steaks with my name on at least 2 :)

The only day I grill that's associated with fireworks is New Years Eve.

4th of July is too hot and muggy; The 100% chance of lightning doesn't help either.

Yea, it's muggy as Hell up here right now, you gotta want it lol! Be willing to suffer over the heat of the grill along with the weather.

'Merica! F**k Yeah!

On a more serious note, I hope everybody out there has a good Independence Day. Enjoy your grilling, shooting, and/or fireworks, and remember to keep your heads on a swivel.

Several weeks ago I took the daughters to an Appleseed in Norman, Oklahoma. Aside from being a great experience for them, I was surprised by the interest they showed in the 'Three Strikes of the Match' story which was recounted at different times throughout the two-days. Here it is in simple form: http://libertyseed.org/strikes-the-three.html

God Bless America.
