Ok so I've had an Osprey 45 sitting around unused for a while now, I originally planned to use a G21 as a host but for some reason I've been looking hard at the FNX 45 Tactical. I really don't "need" a .45 but I sold of my USP compact .45 a while back and always planned to replace it with another .45. This gun will be a pure range toy and I'm not too concerned about the money I'd be spending.

All that said, is there any good reasons to steer away from this pistol? Any known issues I should be aware of? As I understand the FNP had a significant amount of warts that were fixed by the FNX....

I have the standard FNX 45, and have had absolutely no issues with it what so ever. It's a fine shooting gun, and if I had to pick one gun for a "combat side arm", it'd be the one.

How many round do you have through yours if you don't mind me asking? What spare parts do you recommend having on hand? RSA? Extractor?

A-Mazing pistol. Mine eats everything. Gold Dots, Sabers, Rangers, Reloads, Steel. Total beast.

I run mine with An AAC Ti-Rant I originally bought for an HK45 but HK, in typical half-ass mode, delivers their's without suppressor sights. Heinie only makes their Supressor sights in runs and for about 6 months they didn't have them. So I bought the FNX. Approx 2k (I can check my log) without a single pickup, including Monarch Crap-ola steel.

Sick Greg! You certainly didn't help deter me, I had no idea you owned one, but if you own one it has to be top notch! I think it will be the perfect host for my 45 Osprey!

I don't keep a shooting log, so I can't give you an exact number. I'd estimate 1200-1600? I know for certain I put 300-400 through it at a Advanced Pistol/Rifle class a few weeks back. My estimates are probably low, as the FNX is a fun one to just blast ammo through.

As for parts, I really can't say. Like I said, I've had zero issues with mine, and haven't noticed any real wear on it. Guess time will tell.

OP, I have a FNX Tactical 45 that I picked up earlier this year and put about 200 rounds through. It is a TAC-DRIVER and VERY accurate. However, I am thinking that I may stick with Glock and 9mm. All of my other pistols are currently Glocks in 9mm so i don't know if I will keep the FNX Tactical. If you are interested I may be selling mine. I have a brand new Trijicon RMR RM04 that has not even been mounted yet and a Raven concealment Phantom LC set up for a Surefire X400 for it as well (I'm keeping the X400, and put it on SR15) If your interested PM me.

I ran an FNX 45 with an Osprey for a little while, didn't like it at all! Mine was very inaccurate with the suppressor attached, and not really super accurate without it. I traded it about a year ago.

I now run the Osprey between a Glock 21 and a Springfield Operator 1911. IMO the Glock is the best host of the three. The FNX was the loudest of the three.

I have the FNP and bought a threaded barrel. It runs like a champ and I use it as a bedside gun when I don't grab an AR. I too have the AAC. I run both the HK45 and FN. Neither have malfunctioned with or without a can. Buy the FNX, you will be happy.

Already dropped the money for one, should hopefully have it within the next week. ;)

Over 1,000 rounds with my FNX T and zero issues with Lawman, PMC ball ammo. Couple things to consider if you go that route:

1. The spring is uber stiff, so lock the slide to the rear a couple weeks before you shoot it.
2. Load up your mags to capacity first thing as well.
3. As with most pistols with Suppressor sights, (mine at least) shoots low, so there is a learning curve.

For me, the FNX is a no brainer......3x 15 round mags, suppressor/night sights/threaded barrel all for around $1k.

I bought Rohardy's, so hopefully I won't need much break in period.... But I plan to shoot it suppressed a lot so hopefully that helps break it in.

Did your Osprey come from SiCo FDE or did you have it cerakoted aftermarket? My soon to be FNX is FDE but my Osprey is black, not a big deal but if I could have it cerakoted for cheap I'd consider it.

Its from SiCO in FDE. My local SOT was getting ready to move and it had been languishing in the display. Made him an offer ($600) and he was silly enough to agree. Had no idea how rare they are until after I bought it.

That Osprey looks all one color, not two tone like the original limited run (cam lock section is closer to bronze on original from SilencerCo).........perhaps the photo is off?

I think this was after the first run and was a Lipsey's exclusive. Perhaps they coated them? Not sure

Very nice set up. I like when the colors are off a shade or two. I really like the scar with multi color FDE

Ya that look has grown on me, kinda makes me regret going black with my SCARs, especially with an FDE FNX 45 Tactical inbound.

I embraced it and also built an AR as a "50 Shades of FDE" tribute.....burnt bronze, magpul fde, umbrella fde, coyote brown, etc...
