View Full Version : Carbine carrying case
Do you like a hard case vs soft ? Please give reason and type you use . thanks
I like a hard case for protection for long term or rough handleing, also for large, heavy weapons or complicated systems, (ie M240B, M24 SWS) and for multiple handgun storage. I like a soft sided case for moving one or two guns, or if I need a less bulky method of transport.
I decided to go with a soft case after a bit of debate. A hard case is fantastic, no-doubt, but at 15-20 pounds it's just too heavy. Soft cases on the other hand weigh around 5 pounds, which is much more manageable.
Here's a very affordable soft case that gets some great reviews: http://www.cheaperthandirt.com/MOLLE204-1.html
P.S. - there's a $10 off CTD coupon floating around the net!

They are a sort of combination hard/soft case. The outside is a water resistant
nylon, with one exterior pocket, The body has a rigid shell. Inside there is die-cut foam. They are lightweight. I have one of their carbine cases which is 34" in length with interior foam already cut to the dimensions of an M4 carbine. It fits like a glove and keeps the carbine locked in place. You can cut the remaining foam with an x-acto knife to fit in accessories (flashlights, vertical grips, optics. I have a RRA with DMS-1 scopew/Larue SPR mount,VT, flashlight and 30rnd mag all in the 34". The 34" is very compact and very discreet, very high Cool factor:D (lone caveat being the carbine will need a removable optic (QD) to fit, it won't fit in the case with a fixed optic. Not enough clearance.
Just last week I received 2 of their 40" hard/soft cases. The 40" will fit the carbine with a fixed optic. However with the 40" YOU will have to cut the foam to fit, this is easy with a sharp knife. I have my Remington 870 in one and my new Charles Daly CDM4/LEw/Comp M3 in the other. Midway has the 40" on sale $59.99.
