Iam trying to rotate some .22 ammo stock ,but have noticed the wax or lube has started to dry out. Would rubbing a bit of ALOX on them hurt anything? I really dont want to lead up my new barrel.

I have the ALOX already so i thought i would just rub some on my fingers off the tube then apply some on the lead .22 rounds before shooting them. Never realized how important the wax lube on .22 is to help from leading the barrel etc.

Ive read at some place alox has salt in it so you need to clean the barrel good when you get home, anyone know if this is true? I dont reload cast lead bullets so its kinda a new thing to me.

Thanks..

I have sprayed them lightly with rem oil in the past

I can't say for sure it doesn't have salt in it, but there are plenty of us that have used alox for years, and have experienced no barrel rusting problems. I would say you could use alox on those bullets with no problems at all, just dilute it down a bit with some paint thinner, too thick and it will gum up your chamber.

I have found people swearing by everything from preparation H to pam non stick spray. Its amazing what people try to get an advantage. Iam just trying to relube some thunderbolt ammo to keep it from leading up my barrel then its CCI or match grade after that only.
