Ok guys. I have been beating my head against the wall and have decided to seek some help. Here it is;

We are using Bushamster carbines with YHM free floating rail systems on them. I had a few weps that were damaged so I had to strip them down and pull the rails off, sights, upper receivers, etc...

The problem is I cannot get the barrel retaining nut off. I suspect that they put Loc-Tite on them and then cranked them down. I say this because someone also put Loc-tite on the lower receiver extensions as well and then tightened the shit out of them. So far I have tried using heat, applying various lubes and oils and I still cannot get them to even budge. As a matter of fact I broke the studs off all the wrenches that I have.

Am I missing something? Is there any reason why these things aren't moving? Is there some other chemical or technique that I should be using?

Could be on with Rocksett, if so submerge the receiver and barrel nut in water for 24hrs.

What wrenches are you using?

You should use either the Yankee Hill wrench or the PRI both have longer pins and won't f'up the aluminum barrel nut.

PRI 5 pin wrench:

Yes, I have the YHM wrenches. YHM was kind enough to send me new pins to replace the broken ones. The other ones were soaked in MPRO-7 gun cleaner overnight. In the end I had to cut the retaining ring and the nut off in order to remove the barrels and strip them down. What does Rocksett look like? The last couple had a funny pale yellow residue on them with a funny glue like smell.

That could very well be Rocksett, if you use a bunch it's sort looks a bit yellow. If only a little it looks transparent. A lot of heat will work too, like MAP gas. But if submerged in water for 24hrs or more it'll break down.

You still might want to invest in the PRI, it's about $30 or so and will handle quite a bit more torque without pin breakage since the torque is shared by 5 pins instead of 3.

Yeah, I will give that a shot and see what happens. I am going to look into the PRI wrench as well.
