Im new to the kydex gear game and i have a G34 that needs a holster. Heavily leaning towards a kydex rig for competition and carry use.

Looking to be pointed in the right direction.

Thanks

Can't beat Raven Concealment. They have holsters for the 34 with their ready to ship option.

EGA Custom (www.egacustom.com) did a rig for my new G34, and I am quite pleased. Easy order, fast shipping, excellent comms and customer service from the owner. A group of friends are using the same gear for a different model. No issues. Recommended.

If I were you, I would honestly look at dedicated setups for competition and carry. I run a G34 in USPSA and use the Comp-Tac International with drop offset. The DOS setup is not IDPA legal but I believe the International also includes a mount that is IDPA legal. For an OWB carry holster, I would run a Raven Concealment. The cost is a little higher but running dedicated rigs for each situation is more comfortable for me.

For OWB kydex I like Dale Fricke and JM Custom. I also have a Proctor WOTG holster I really like, but it's strictly for range use/gaming.

I use Raven and JM Custom Kydex.

I'm really liking JM, but my old Ravens are still good holsters.

I used to use a Comp-Tac straight drop for USPSA and it was a better competition holster than a Raven or JM, but I do fine with the latter and I enjoy using actual carry gear more than dedicated game stuff. If I was serious about winning, I would get another dedicated competition setup.

I like Garrett Industries holsters. Kydex outside with leather lined inside. Great for competition and concealed carry. Most of mine are the Silent thunder champion. Here is the link.

I use a BladeTech Black ICE holster. Is a favorite of many competitors. There used to be an issue way back when they first came out, the front of the rig was cut too low for IDPA regulations (was blazing fast on the draw though.) BladeTech has stopped cutting the front that low on new production runs. If you find an older one on a shelf someplace just measure to be sure you're within regs if you're gonna compete in Production.

I run Raven and OTG for my 34. You can't go wrong with either.

I've had very positive results using X-Concealment holsters.

I would check out TapRack Holsters, they can custom make just about any kind of rig you would want for a G34. The owner is Ret. LE, very good guy.

Can't help you with the competition holster but for IWB carry of the G34 I am a huge fan of JM Custom Kydex.

I have been comfortably carrying my G34 with and without the X300 Ultra the last month. It conceals easily under properly sized (not oversized or baggy) short sleeve button ups, polos, and even t-shirts.

I went with the Version 3 SL (soft loop) and the Light Bearing Version 2.5. Both at 20 degree cant.

How the G34 rides in the Version 3 SL with 20 degree cant.

Up until last month I'd been carrying a G19 IWB in a Raven Phantom. Due to the increased cant and lower ride height I actually find it easier to conceal the G34 in the JM's compared to the G19 in the Phantom. The JM holsters are also more comfortable to me due to the smaller footprint.

I'd definitely give JM Custom Kydex a look.

P.S. I'm not carrying the G34 with the craptastic factory adjustable sights. It's got Warren Tactical 2 dots on it now!
