Per the title, I am in seek of the opinion of the collective for which weapon light would ultimately serve me best on my Remington 870. I have a Remington Model 870 Express Magpul Tactical with a Mesa Tactical 6-shell side mount carrier, Nordic Components +1 tube extension, + Magpul forward sling mount. The last piece of the puzzle in completing my shotgun is deciding on a weapon light. This particular shotgun remains at home at all times and is solely for HD purposes. Please let me know what your thoughts are, ladies + gentlemen!

As always, thank you in advance for your time + input!

Mount the x300 at 6o clock on the forend with a magpul cantilever mount. This is ambidextrous and keeps the gun balanced. I can easily work the rocker switch with my index finger. Barrell shadow is also minimal

Surefire DSF-870.

I am highly considering taking this route, my friend. I can purchase a brand new in box SureFire X300 Ultra weapon light locally for $154 plus tax out the door. The only downsides to the M300 Mini Scout Light that I can come up with is the potential threat of having the tape light switch cord getting hung up on something + having 200 less lumens. Thank you for your input!

Surefire DSF-870.

While I appreciate your recommendation, I have written off the SureFire DSF-870 as an option.

That's a nice setup so far. May I ask why not an Inforce WML though? I love SureFire and have sold off all of my other brands of weapon lights to consolidate with them, but the ergonomics of the WML are hard to beat for that application. The cantilever mount and WML work very well with the Magpul hand guards and I assume would work just as well with the forend. If you'd rather just stick to SureFire, I'd probably go X300. I don't know that the Scout would do anything for you that an X300U couldn't do on a shotgun, and do it cheaper.

You ought to buy that light regardless of what you put on your shotgun.

Seconding Wake's suggestion... I love Surefire, but the WML seems like it was made for the Magpul forend.

What mount are you using?

What mount are you using?
RVG rail section and an HSP Offset mount, just to raise the light some over the sling.

Thank you for the kind remark! In all sincerity, I was completely in the dark that a comparable offering to SureFire's X300 Ultra weapon light even existed. I was under the impression that it was SureFire X300 Ultra or bust. Would you recommend that I opt for the Inforce WMLx White or WML White?

You ought to buy that light regardless of what you put on your shotgun.

I would be hard pressed to pass on the opportunity given the price point. If you are interested, Walmart has them discounted at $154.00 plus tax, my friend.

Your Walmart carries Surefire lights?

Damn dude, I'm jealous. I might ask you to smuggle something across the border to NC for me ;)

And on the WMLx vs WML, I personally like the 200 lumen model for HD. Very floody beam, enough light to positively ID someone every time, but not so much to completely ruin my vision for when the light is off.

If my memory serves me correct, only one location of the ten within the surrounding areas has SureFire lights. It is also the only Walmart that sells firearms. You should check your local Walmart, my friend. They are removing a great deal of firearms + accessories from their catalog. Hence the closeout pricing.

Outstanding! I am ordering a Inforce WML this evening + Magpul cantilever light mount.

Case closed, ladies + gentlemen! Thank you for all your input thus far. I will post an update once I have the aforementioned pieces attached to my 870.

My local one is some awkward tweener. They carries(d) AR's and ammo and the occasional Surefire Nitrolon and batteries, but limited other gun stuff. I haven't been in in quite some time though, I might check 'em out.

And I look forward to your impressions/pics!

I own a couple of surefire flash lights and I like them a lot. However, I too will be ordering the Inforce due to its more tapered close-in, and ergonomic design. Seemingly, weapon lights for the AR platform have not been even marginally exploited.

I will always go surefire for pistol lights but as far as a long gun light I think the inforce has taken that market.

Forgive my absence as of late, but I have spent an inordinate amount of time away from the forum, my friends. After much procrastination, I purchased the Inforce WML from my good friends at the Franklin Gun Shop in Franklin, TN. As always, their service is top notch + they squared me away with the installation. I had to replace the MOE Magpul forend with Magpul's MOE M-LOK forend in order to utilize their cantilever M-LOK mount for the Inforce WML. The WML allows me to successfully manipulate the shotgun with ease. I am extremely pleased with the purchases, my friends. I have none other to thank but you fine folks for your feedback + recommendations.

I have a question for the guys that have the light mounted to the left side of the grip instead of under it. when you have the shotgun slung on your back (muzzle up) does the light cause comfort issues.. dig into your back or something?

What is the advantage to the cantilever mount as opposed to just a rail section.

It seems that the cantilever gives it extra height. Does this not make it less comfortable?

I'm trying to decide which one to get.

wow. Bringing up a 3 year old thread.

The cantilever is intended to get the light further forward than a rail section would allow. I also tried running an inforce light at 9 o'clock and I used just a rail section because if it went any further forward it would have hit my sling mount. Unfortunately it cramped up the left side enough that when I shot the gun the recoil drove the rail section and light in to my thumb. Not comfortable.
I moved it to the 6 o'clock position but the inforce WML is difficult to activate in this position.

Also, not a big fan of the current DSF forends. But I like the old ones with a Malkoff upgraded LED head:

Does that ever bite you while shooting?

I had an Infoce WMO on one of my rifles. I think it was a 15-22. It broke while in a padded rifle case going from trunk to house multiple times. Not during shooting. They refunded me. It was very comfortable and priced right but I wouldn’t get another.

I would have to agree. It is a bit big and heavy but feels really good on the gun and the pressure plate is very accessible.
