‘Anti-gun stupidity’: Honolulu destroys $575G worth of police firearms

Honolulu destroys brand new S&Ws to switch to Glocks.

They should have their budget reduced by $575,000.

I'm not anti-Glock, but they ought to specifically have their budget for new small arms reduced by $575,000. Before they write the check to Glock (and checks to anyone else supplying them with small arms).

It's not like it's real money. The taxpayers won't mind picking up the slack.

I don't know why I always do this to myself, but the comment section just makes me rather have an aneurysm than read any more.

Government waste, fraud and abuse. If I were a Honolulu tax payer, I'd be furious.

Incredibly stupid even by anti standards. The person responsible should be fined $575k and never work again.

If the gun is legal locally (and other than mag capacity I'm not aware of any Hawaii bans on these common handguns) it should have been sold.

Someone else started a thread on a related issue and included Honolulu PD. It is fiscally irresponsible at best.

"This is a good "primer" for the economy."

*pump primer, not like a center fire primer.

They'll just raise hotel room tax to make up for loss. That place makes money hand over fist via tourism.

I'm at that point where I don't buy handguns new, I prefer LE trade in GLOCKs. A little holster wear and only shot during annual quals. $300 is a hell of steal for a gently used center fire combat handgun. As a gun guy, there is a little part of me that dies every time I read about agencies melting down guns.

According to Guns and Ammo Hawaii ranks worse than California on gun issues.

This is the sole reason my wife and I haven't relocated permanently to one of the islands. Too bad.

Something tells me that was the official story, but the CIA probably armed whole insurrections, coup d'états, and dirty little wars the world over with such caches.

Taxpayers are already paying for a $30b rail system that nobody will use, whats another $575k wasted?

Ive seen McMillan TAC308 rifles being chopped and scrapped, I wept inside that day.
