View Full Version : Iif You Could Own Any Gun...

coastwatcher42

If you could own any gun, with cost or rarity as no object, what would it be? It could be anything from a antique original Revolutionary War musket to a modern Dillon Aero minigun to a historical firearm such as the pistol used to assasinate President Lincoln. My tastes are simple, give me a Hk MP5SD. The minigun would be nice, but who could afford to shoot it?

Only one . . .

I'd have to opt for a genuine FN FAL 50.62.

Thankfully I have most of them.

But if I could have any single example one time for the asking, it would probably be a FN 240, a Type 3 AK-47 or a 1921 Colt Thompson.

Anything else I can buy, don't need, or is probably best left as fantasy.

But the Stoner 63A. Dear lord, you don't know how bad I want one.

Any others are select fire, and I'd end up hardly shooting them.

Although the stoner is high on the list.

There was a thread a while ago where a guy was showing some museums inventory. There were some 556 mini guns and another type of machine gun with 2 barrels iirc. Anyone know what I'm talking about? I'd love to know what it's called because that's what I want.

Edit, found it. I want an ex-17 heligun.

I used to spend a few days with my great grandfather every summer when I was a young teen. We would cruise around out in the pastures at 2 mph in an old feed truck.

Eventually a rabbit would bolt and he would nail it with a 22.

He would slowly and deliberately pump it to chamber a new round. Almost as if that's how you had to cycle it.

It was an old tube magazine hexagon barrel pump. Unsure of make or model.

That's the gun I would want.

Well it was built around the gun so it has that going for it.

Lots I would love to have. I suppose currently the one I would like to have the most though is my Uncle Johnny's .410 LC Smith side by side though.

After than a FA MP5. Have gotten to play with them and they just make me happy. A FA M4 would be next. Then we'd just get into every damn thing else.
Also, not going to go back through the thread, but the guy who mentioned the .45 Luger is a true connoisseur.

This one's easy. Hands down, without a doubt, no questions asked, take it to the bank, the Browning M-2. Was given the opportunity during Iraqi Freedom to expend a hundred rounds of .50 BMG through an M-2 as ordered by Gunnery Sergeant W.S. Jr. and I followed it! My God did that feel great. At that moment I was the baddest SOB on that ship and had the means to back it up! Best of all, today, I can afford the ammo to feed that baby. :dirol:

I fortunately already own many of my Grail guns - all german mp5k-pdw Navy with DLO fullauto trigger frame, Colt M16, fullauto FNC, fullauto fullsize UZI, Swiss SIGs....

I still want a Maremont M60 in E4 or E6 configuration, Colt m16a2 Commando, Colt m16a2 carbine, WW2 28 Thompson (my grandfather carried one), and museum quality Colt Thompson. I hope to eventually pick these up in time.

M60 from my days as a gunner in Ranger Bn. My last enlisted job other than acting PSg temporarily was weapons squad leader. In the days before the fn.

In late 90s I was on Bn staff in an sF Bn new to the Bn and no other role there yet. Still had 60s there. Young enough looking not obvious I had several years enlisted and had never been to that group. We had just finished a range week. All hands for cleaning weapons.

I had just finished my carbine and the XO, in a hazing maneuver handed me, and two others each a 60. Snickers were supposed to ensue as I looked like a monkey with a football. Mine had a fte/df malluntion tag on it. I asked the armored what was wrong with. Said he and a couple of Bravos could not get it to work. The bc, csm, and others looked on as I broke it down. Then eyes got big when I broke down the feed tray/cover. Bigger when I used the op rod to break down the bolt. Ah ha, I said- hey, you got another extractor back there, stress fracture in this one, should extract fine if I replace it.

Despite all the cons, I spent years mastering that platform and would love to own one.

Had two chances to buy one but the cost was more than a PSG1 so I passed as the PSG1 was higher on my list. Only problem is every time I put together the money for a PSG1 I ended up buying a machine gun instead.

I'm almost glad I never bought the WA 2000, I'd be horribly conflicted. With current prices I'd want to sell it very much, but knowing how rare it is I probably wouldn't be able to part with it. So it would end up being another "no sell" investment and I already have enough of those.

I would go with a 1921 Thompson with the violin case. Just because.
Next would be something belt-fed. I'd love a 240 of some variant.

Emailed my LGS. The new semi auto Thompson SBR's are about $1,650. The freaking 100 round drum is over $500! 30's were $70 but I saw a bunch of surplus 30meihnd stick magazines online in the $25-$30 range.

I can't speak for the Kahr Thompson, but my 1990's vintage Thompson requires a slight mod to USGI 30rd sticks to function. FWIW, I was offered $500 for my 50rd drum when I lived in CA.

I remember the last time that one came up for sale. I think it was LMO who had it.

Scared to ask but.... you wouldn't happen to remember at least the ballpark price range would you?

Which model were you looking for - this one?

http://www.auto-ordnance.com/firearms/thompson-m1sb.asp

I have really wanted to buy one of those, but it would be way down the list of stuff I need.

Yeah it is way down on the list for me. I like the M1 it's the one I'm used to seeing in movies, WWII news reels and photos. I don'tthink that one witll accept the drums so I'd be looking at this model:

Thanks Bubba, what did you need to do to the GI Mags? $70 each kinda killed it for me.

You know what....this is infuriating. This topic isn't fun anymore as it is totally pisstakingly infuriating.

Bill Gates could be buying this up and donating to the less fortunate instead of wasting his money on people in countries nobody cares about.

If I had Bill Gates money I'd be running around in a silk kimono like dude from boogie nights with C3 EVERYWHERE. Blasting Night Ranger with the biggest blackest bodyguard with two Beretta 93Rs.

And they waste it on charity. No, I am not being sarcastic or jokeful. It's just too much.

THAT would be an interesting thread:
"If you had Bill Gates money" (ie the gdp of a small nation), what weapon system would you get?
Like, i'd get me that A10, maybe add a F4 Phantom, all the ammo they could carry and a small island somewhere far out there to play with my toys....yeah as if.

I would have at a minimum TWELVE lingerie models walking around, be blasting better crap than Sister Christian and I'd have former SF members as on sight security. (wouldn't need big black dudes because I wouldn't be buying coke by the pound).

I would do everything I could to build a C3 collection that would make Reed Knight feel threatened.

And then "for the children" I'd have a machine gun shoot every weekend. Only I'd do it correctly with competent RO's and the MP5s and M4s would have have .22 LR conversion kits in them. This of course would be my "tax deductible" charity and I'd write off the cost of bulk .22 LR ammo.

Probably a F117 with a camelbak straw going to the two kegs in the weapons bay.

If I had that type of money, I would buy the entire House and Senate off- get them to pass pro 2A bills out the wazoo and get them to kill every anti-gun bill that ever was.

Then I'd go by Dillon Aero pick up an M134D, a crap load of ammo, mount that shit to my 4runner and go have some serious fun...

You mention lingerie, models, security and C3 and all I can think of is Kate Nauta in Transporter 2. She was a nasty piece of work! :)

I know I have irritated some women in the past. One particularly angry ex-wife leaps to mind, when I pause to reflect.

But I have never had a woman come after me with TWO Glock 18's.

Just reading between the lines here, but that means you've had women come at you with one Glock 18, then, right?

Any gun is a tough call, but I think a complete MG08 maxim with the sled mount and optic would turn this frown upside down!

If Bill Gates money is the game I want a private airstrip with a hangar with a P-51 a T-6 and an L-4 in it....then Id go do the whole learning to fly part!

I'd go for a G11 in a more... refined (less blocky) setup.

If we're only talking about things that actually exist, then... the chopped Swedish Mauser I'd found years ago. 16.25" barrel with 11deg crown, drilled and tapped receiver, original stock (also appropriately shortened, and bedded), and light trigger (I'd guess 3-3.5#). For the hell of it I mounted an NcStar 16-24x50 (don't judge) and could draw faces at 100yd with the damn thing. It made me look damned good.

Or a PTR "Super Sniper," but with regular iron sights still on, "Navy" lower, welded top rail, 20rd mags, Hk heavy buffer, and PA's new 1-8x24 ACSS scope in an ultra-low mount.

Alright that's it, I wanna change mine from an OEM FAL shorty to the Arsenal MG1M (modernized Bulgarian PKM in 7.62 NATO) . . .

I had to change my pants . . .

Well, I got my 44 automag last weekend.
Guess I'll have to rethink my list.

Picked up brass and bullets, already have the rest. Soon as the dies get here, I'll have ammo.

My top 3 would be these.

1) Beretta Premium Sporting Shotgun (SO5, SO6, SO10) or Custom Browning Superposed, or a bespoke Holland and Holland. Would have to try them all out before making a decision.
