I've checked mine over, trying to figure out if it came with the KAC or Troy Industries Quad Rail. I don't see the manufacturer's name on the rail but I do see a L/N NG-17456. Is there any way to visually tell the difference between the KAC and the Troy? Thanks in advance for any assistance. The rifle was purchased new back in June of this year so I'm assuming it's a Troy but just wanted to confirm. Thanks everyone.34980

That's Troy. KAC's don't have the QD on the side

I'm looking at this on my phone, but that appears to be a Troy rail.

Ok. Thank you sir. I wasn't aware that KAC rails didn't have the QD sling mounts. Much appreciated. I do utilize those for my Blackhawk sling so I guess I'm glad it came with the Troy. Thanks again for the info. Have a good weekend.

Yep Troy it is. I bought the same rifle "2013 configuration". Really like the socom profile barrel although it's front heavy as hell. Not too thrilled with the matech rear sight though. Had to drift mine about 12 clicks to the left to zero it in. I also use a 2 point sling so was glad to have the Troy rail even though it's a couple hundred dollars cheaper than the KAC. Shoots really smooth and accurate now!!!
Enjoy that excellent purchase!

Not sure why you think 12 clicks is excessive. People need to worry about important stuff. If it zeroed and shoots straight, that's all that matters.

Thanks for the info. The Maytech rear sight on the SOCOM I purchased was pretty much dead on right out of the box, I guess I got lucky on that. I zeroed the rifle at 25 yards and only had to go 1 click left to center it. It was already dead on as far as elevation. I've been very impressed with my Colt so far. It's accurate as hell with the EOTech or with the iron sights. My 42 year old eyes have a hard time picking up the front post sight sometimes but I think that's just my eyesight getting worse. I also have a Bushmaster M4A3 XM15 I bought last year. The front post sight was defective. I kept having to crank the rear sight 10-12 clicks all the way over to the left just to hit the paper. I finally put the rifle on a vice and the problem stood out like sore thumb. The front post sight was machined off to the right of the barrel center line by over an inch. Not sure how I missed it when I was looking at the rifle at the gun store where I purchased it. Bushmaster's customer service was excellent, they repaired the rifle free of charge, it's my long distance shooter now and the sights are dead on accurate.

I'm definitely not dripping sweat over it. I have my rear buis and aimpro zeroed and the gun shoots better than I can so I have no buyers remorse. Trust me, my first purchase was a BM so I'm more than pleased with my colt.

Nice. I have mine zeroed at 25 meters with poi at about 1 1\2" below poa. I'm hoping that will put it pretty much dead on at 100 meters. I haven't been able to stretch mine out that far yet. Hoping to soon so got my fingers x'd

I was recently able to drive about an hour to a range where I could shoot at 100 yards. The Colt, zeroed at 25 yards, hit exactly where it was supposed to at 100 yards, I was shooting off a bench rest and when I aimed for center mass, I hit right below the neck on the silhouette which is where my chart says I should be hitting at 100 yards with a 25 yard zero.

Is Colt still making SOCOM's or was that some sort of limited production run?

The SOCOM was dropped from their 2015 lineup.
