Looked through the picture thread and have searched around but can't find exactly what I'm looking for. Is anyone running this chassis with a magpul CTR stock and a cheek riser or the larue RISR? Just not a fan of the butt stocks from xlr.

Yes, I've tried all three. I use the CTR and 1/2" riser for hunting and prefer it to the CTR with the RISR as it's a little lighter and more secure. However, for tactical and long range shooting I use XLR's Tactical Lite stock as it's much more secure and works better with rear bags for me.

What don't you like about XLR's stocks? Lack of quick adjustment?

Any chance you have some pictures of your setup with the ctr you don't mind sharing?

It's purely a "look" thing for me. Function wise they are great stocks but spending this kind of money I want my pants to get tighter every time I look at it. Yes I know how stupid/silly that is.

I thought about going the magpul route when I was ordering my XLR Element but decided to get their taclite stock as it offered the flexability I needed and would be less money in the long run if the magpul stock did not work out. I would say the magpul would be better served on the MDT LSS as that is a much lighter compact chassis and deserves a no frills stock.

I think the magpul CTR looks like poop on a boltgun and love my XLR tactical butt stock, I guess to each his own.

I actually like that a lot better with the fde. It helps break up the lines of the butt stock that I didn't like. I wish I could run the ASC-L on it but I would prefer not to have a chin weld.

Edit: just realized that's the mdt chassis. I think I like the xlr stock on the mdt chassis better than the xlr chassis.

I like to combination too, but I'll be honest it was not happy with the MDT chassis at first.

I had to blend the grip into the chassis, round up the back of the trigger guard, sand blast, inlet the bottom of the receiver a little to line up with the magwell and recoat. I did the buttstock at the same time so it matches.

You can tell from this picture how the front of the trigger guard is square compared to the rear.

Where the grip interfaces with the chassis also had two knuckle killing protrusions I filed out.

Don't get me wrong tho. If I could start over I would do the same, I do not like the XLR chassis ergonomics with my hand, The MDT after the work was much better.

The XLR buttstock seemed to be made for the MDT and flip to side adapter. The lines are just smooth.

If you use that stock with the XLR, you'll need a stock adapter: http://mdttac.com/fixed-stock-adapter-v2.html. This increases the LOP to minimum of 15" or so which is a no-go for many including myself.

Same here. CTR looks like shit on the chassis, but I do like it for hunting and hunting only. I'm not a fan of castle nuts on bolt guns either and run this setup on mine:

I have noticed that one of my castle nut mounting notches is right on the bottom and rubs my hand after a long day of shooting. That setup would work out nice.
