Gents-
Im wondering if anyone can tell me why the Gen 4 Trigger Bars have that little bump on them. What does it do? Does it affect trigger pull? Ive heard yes & no. If so..can a Gen 3 trigger Bar be used?
Also...smooth vs. grooved triggers. My new G19 has a grooved trigger. What are the pro's/con's of smooth & grooved?
Havent seen just the smooth trigger for sale..where does one get it?
Just things Ive been wondering about and cannot find answers for.

Trigger bar...

I polished those areas with a little Blitz. There are some good videos on it. Don't think you can use a Gen 3 bar but Im no gunsmith.

The compacts and subcompacts come with the ridged "target" trigger. It's because they needed the point for importation purposes. You can always swap it for the smooth face. It's part number 000357.

I've used both and despite some who find the smooth trigger an improvement, It's never been an issue either way for me. It does not affect trigger pull, it only affects your sensory input (could be for better/worse or neutral).

There are a fair number of replacement options beyond the official Glock part I mentioned. Many come attached with trigger bar assembly, usually polished, designed to improve the trigger pull weight, reset, over travel, and grit.

You certainly can use a Gen 3 bar in a Gen 4.

Smooth face is all a matter of preference. I like them because it feels like I have a more uniform finger placement on the trigger.

AWESOME ANSWERS!! Thanks gents...thanks FH & b2dap1 for those links!
I just did a .25cent trigger job awhile ago on my newest Glock..FINALLY got a G19 to go with my G17 & G41. got a GHOST 3.5lb connector coming. Do yall have a guess as to WHY Glock added the bump on to the Gen 4's?

That little dimple rubs against the slide. It's stated purpose is to keep the trigger bar straight during the complete trigger press; I've also heard it is to ensure that the 'safety hump' rides on the middle of the striker safety plunger as it disengages it.

You can use a Gen 3 bar, but rumor has it that the newer gen 3's have this bar.

The new bar also has a curve on the arm where the trigger spring attaches, allegedly to reduce trigger spring breakage.

The Gen4 trigger housing is different than the Gen3, it is shorter to accommodate the slight reduction in frame size to accommodate the interchangeable backstrap.

The dimples have been on the G21 trigger bars for a long time, not a recent thing.

The grooved trigger has already been explained but out me in the group who orders the smooth version. Except my G43 (there isn't a smooth OEM option yet), I swapped all my 19's and 26' over.

For under $14 per the link Flying Hunter provided...I think Ill swap too. THANKS 26 Inf for that excellent answer...makes perfect sense.
