If you've been following the news, you know Remington setup a plant in Huntsville, AL not too long ago.

Well, I've been keeping an eye on all the gunstores to see when the R1 1911's and/or other firearms would appear with "Huntsville" rather than the usual "Ilion, NY" markings.
Yesterday I saw one in a store, a R1 1911 marked from the new plant, so they are out "in the wild" now.

Here's a pic of mine with the new markings:

"REMINGTON ARMS CO. HUNTSVILLE, AL USA"

Looks like the frame markings and slide markings were all done with a rotating bit (not pressed-in by rollmarking). Don't know if this is common in all R1's or is a thing they did for Huntsville plant only.

Soon as I can put one in my hands, I expect to own it!

The question on everyone's mind obviously is how are they for quality. How's the frame fit, lockup, and trigger? Bushing nice and tight?

For my part, I don't have the proper knowledge or gauges to measure all of those tolerances. This is my only 1911, so I don't have anything to compare it against.

Those frame markings look like some kid did it in high school metal shop.

How does it shoot?

Is the trigger decent?

How does it shoot?
When I pull the trigger, it fires. ;)

Is the trigger decent?
Seems okay, I don't have a gauge.

I just wish they didnt have the horrible roll mark on the slide. Something a bit more "classic" and in keeping with the WWII Remington 1911
