There are tons of reviews out there for the viper pst, but I can't find much on the viper hst. Looks like the main differences are illumination and different etched glass reticle on the pst. Is there any difference in quality of the glass? Is the pst worth the extra ~$100?

I am looking at the 6-24x50 in both models. Intended use is killing paper and the occasional deer on a savage 10p .308. Right now the farthest I am shooting is 600yd but would like to be at 1k by the spring and farther after that so I'm buying more scope than I "need".

The HS-T only has a Target/Tactical style turret for elevation while the windage turret is capped. However the glass and quality are identical and so review of the PST would apply to the HST as well.

I have to disagree with the above. I have the 4-16 HS-T and both turrets are exposed. Additionally, it's a wire reticle, not etched, so that's a downside as well. The glass would be comparable however. It really comes down to whether you care about the reticle and how bad you need illumination.
