I was out at the range yesterday shooting, among other things my LE trade-in Swiss 552-2 SBR. With the diopter set to 200m I was easily engaging reactive 6x6" targets at 200 and 300yds and was about 50% in hitting the 400yd target. This was with open diopter sights, benched and monopoded on a 30 round mag. I was shooting federal 55gr xm197 ammo. This was really just minute of man shooting, with no ability to spot for real groups, as these were soft reactive targets. And we had no spotting scope. Still, it was very fun to hit at these ranges using the 552 with its short sight radius and 8.9" barrel. We were also consistently hitting 200yds with my mp5k-pdw using Fiocchi 115gr 9mm. Sorry, no pics. Next trip I will bring my 551-2 SBR and 551-2 with 16" barrel. I'm thinking my 551s need some decent glass.

I have been using an Aimpoint T-1 on my SBR Sig 551-2 on a B&T rail. I'm not real happy about how high the sight is though and I've been thinking about designing a mount that co-witnesses the T-1 with the irons but i do not think it is economically feasible to go into production due to the small number of SAN made 55X series of guns in the US.

What optic/mount are you thinking about using on you SBR 551?

The Steiner 1-4x is on sale at eurooptic for $699. Seems like an ideal optic for the 551 SBR. I tried a t1 on my 551 and find the fixed diopters to be in the way. The sight picture is just too busy for my liking.
